The main difference between this trim and other trims is the use of Elmer's School Glue to put the panels on, versus Gorilla Glue used in the other trims. There is an internal placard advising the owner to avoid car washes, and rainy days.
And crying…

I cannot believe the board decided to offer this man a trillion dollars to keep him running the company. Would have been cheaper to just let him go and let someone who wants to actually sell cars takeover and would done wonders for sales with a less toxic name at the helm. What an infuriating brand to watch go down in flames.

Beyond looking dumb, the CT is saddled with a stigma that makes it unbuyable for me. Every time I see one, the first thing that pops into my mind is "loser." I'm sure they'll sell some of these de-rated models at the new price, but that won't do anything to change the stigma. It might even make it worse, because now TSLA bros will have extra money to wrap their new CT to advertise their favorite shitcoin.

Rivian New $59k Cybertruck version announced {filename}

My wife quotes this video every time we so one of those monstrosities. "What's that over there? That's a douchebag."

Perhaps, more importantly, is no one going to mention Newt the cat? I mean, I think the cat is far more interesting than that stainless steel monstrosity Tesla calls a “truck”. They had such a great opportunity to smash an EV truck out of the park, but chose the CT instead…and the faithful lapped that garbage up like tasty crabs and seagulls. (Seriously, watch the cat video).

Back before Elon showed his true colors, I owned a Model Y Performance…fun car. I really tried to give the CT a chance, but when I started seeing all the videos on build quality, price, stigma, delays, etc. I “noped” out. It’s just a sh1t vehicle with some cool ideas. Just this man’s opinion. The only Tesla branded item I own now is a charger…with an adapter to charge my R1T, an actual truck. I sold my Model Y because I didn’t want any affiliation with Elon and will never buy anything from that company again as long as he has anything to do with it. They could offer the CT for $100 and I’d still be a hard pass. That Nazi man-child can kick rocks.

At that price point, AWD, four-wheel steering, 120/240V outlets, drive-by-wire, and home backup capability that’s basically like having six Powerwalls on standby, they might move more units than Rivian. Add legitimate FSD into the mix and it’s actually a pretty compelling value… assuming you can get past the looks.

I’ve also heard it may include front and rear lockers at that price (not confirmed). The wild part? It costs just a bit more than six Powerwalls. Let that sink in. If you live out in the boonies with a serious off-grid setup, it actually makes a lot of sense.

At this point I’m half tempted to sell my Powerwalls and park one behind the RV gate ;)
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Cybertruck outsold R1T by almost 3 to 1 in 2025.

  • Tesla Cybertruck: ~20,200 units sold in 2025 — a 48 % drop year-over-year from 2024 figures and far below Tesla’s earlier production targets.
  • Rivian R1T: ~7,400 units sold in 2025 — also down significantly from previous years.

I think the post said "Rivian" not R1T's. It's a moot point now as the offer only lasts 10-days according to Elon.

I don't care what the price is, I would never drive one. It looks like a shiny dumpster on wheels, which is a shame because some of the tech is actually cool.
I'm of the same opinion. If you only looked at the specs on a sheet of paper, you'd expect a kick ass truck. But in the end, it's a CYBER truck. If they had just made it look more like a tundra, they could have racked in all those EV truck customers that Ford and others are now walking away from. It appears that GM will now be the only one making a true electric work truck.
I love my R1T like no other, but have to admit that it was never going to be the work truck the Lightning and Silverado/GMC trucks are.

Yea I really like the Sierra/Silverado EV with the mid gate, but they're huge and expensive, for me. Maybe in the used market. I'm mostly curious about the Scout.

2026 R1S tri motor 2023 f350 2024 ford lightnin
IMO the rivian dual should be $59k all day long. Having a ford lighting platinum / and a flash - the flash is a great price point while Platinum …. Other than massaging seats not much offense between that and flash

I know rivian doesn’t want to piss off customers but the R1T prices are way off base for a truck.

Tri max should be $79k. If rivian can somehow get the prices down they would sell tons of trucks because they are a great size/ great storage for most. But the second a Tacoma EV comes out …. The R1T may be toast.

After sitting in The R1T should actually be a R2T and then they should have a truck that is a size of an f150 and at that point they can charge )120k for a quad.

The R1s seems to be more insulated in the SUV market since most nicer SUVs are in the same price range. But no truck other than a cyber beast is even near a r1T quad. A fully optioned /loaded - f450 platinum plus or f350 tremor platinum plus is almost $10k cheaper.

It is a shame that it is such an eyesore, given all those points. It's just a non-starter because of it.

“Tesla’s new Cybertruck trim has already gotten the axe from CEO Elon Musk, who said the All-Wheel-Drive configuration of the all-electric pickup will only be available “for the next ten days.”

Still won’t sell because it doesn’t look like a truck. Just scrap the CT program already.
But Cybertrucks are actually selling, and "better" than Rivian R1T. Tesla has sold a total of about 59k units...but only been on the market for 2yrs. VS. Rivian is at 56k units but huge head start on the market since 2022 for over 5yrs now. Rivian R1T sales have actually been declining significantly (including having a Gen2 refresh). Down almost a whopping 50% in 2yrs from 2024-24. What's Rivians excuse for declining sales and not growing??
  • 2022: 9,900 units sold
  • 2023: 19,410 units sold
  • 2024: 15,799 units sold
  • 2025: 11,085 units sold
