New Mobile Charger for $165

Newbie alert! But as I understand it, the software upgrades are delivered through the Rivian wallcharger, the one you can order for an extra $500. Does this walcharger have that capability as well?

False. Updates are applied OTA. As far as I know, I'm not even sure it uses WiFi even when connected though it would make sense. Many folks don't use the Rivian charger.

Feels sketchy, but going to order and see what arrives. Will dispute otherwise. I use mine at home with 14-50 setup, so would like to keep one in car, just in case.

I also just picked one up following a best offer of $140. Will probably just put this one in my garage and the one I know will always work in my truck. I’ll gamble at that price.

I'm worried how the warranty would go if one of these bootleg chargers fails and burns up the truck...Rivian could say "those chargers had issues and were meant to be destroyed...no warranty for you!"

Some photos comparing the charger from eBay and the one that came with the truck. Seems that if it's a knockoff, they are going through a lot of trouble to fake it. They look Identical.

Hey, I really want one for that price...but this dude has quite a few...if they didn't pass QC or something (I know, the irony, cuz QC on trucks isn't even done)...maybe Rivian blacklisted them attached to those serial numbers and if something hurts the truck....oh jeezus, I've really gone down the rabbit hole. LOL. Carry on....

I don't think that's true - they are OTA updates not through a non-network plugged in mobile charger.

Here is another seller who sold 14 and has 4 still available at a little bit higher price.

They were able to secure brand new chargers from a fleet customer who already had their own chargers in place.

I thought I would never used the home charger that came with my R1S until my $600 home charger was giving error to my R1S; so I pulled out the Rivian charger for the first time.

For a home replacement, I made an offer of $150 and got accepted. I was just thinking... if my $600 charger die after 5 years, I don't mind spending $150... knockoff or not. A famous quote from an ex-Chinese leader... "White cat or black cat, if it can catch mice... it is a good cat".

Picked one up for a $140 offer as well. Thanks for that tip! A bit skeptical of quality, but does look legit from the photos so far. May take it apart when it gets here to compare inside as well. Unless these are glued shut entirely?

I will say, considering the Tesla mobile chargers are $230 now (https://shop.tesla.com/product/mobile-connector) this doesn't seem like an unreasonably cheap price for a real Rivian one that was bought in bulk...
