Same boat. At 23,000 miles, have recently lost two 20" Pirellis that can't be repaired (one was my spare that had only 500 miles on it). Until that second loss, was leaning toward the Toyo SL version, but I'm in camp LT now, and deciding between the Toyo and the Nokian.

I just pulled the trigger on the Toyo LTs and am installing them tomorrow.

If anyone is unaware, there is a tool that can help with this (thanks to Jose @RivianTrackr )!

FYI: even if you're not *actively looking* for new tires...if you have any experience with non-OEM tires, there are community ratings, which helps Rivian owners make their decisions, so it's worth checking out and adding your experiences!

I really like that site. Found it awhile back while researching.

You run a set of Atomic Wheels with Nokians right? How did you like the wheel upgrade? Any noticeable ride/driving characteristic changes?

I'm leaning towards getting a set of Atomic 20in wheels with the Goodyear AT's. Will save nearly 20lbs/corner of unspring/rotating mass. My hope is that it softens the ride a little bit by letting the suspension do it's thing. Don't really care about the range impact, but I've read it should help in city/stop-n-go driving.

Only off-roading I'm likely to do is the the NERC meet in the spring/fall. Might find some other meets to attend, but in my daily driving/life I don't have much need for the AT's other than liking the look.

Any thoughts?

I do (for Off-Road and Winter, mostly) run the Nokian Outpost nAT in 275/60R20 (115H*), and I absolutely adore them. They ride way better than the 21" OEMs I rock during summer commute-only times, except for the obvious: efficiency. That said, the efficiency hit is relatively low. I'm actually about to put the nATs back on. I'm hoping to get some off-roading and camping in this summer (want to join us?)

There is a 129 rated nAT. I'm debating running those whenever I run out of tread on the current set. BUT, that won't be anytime soon. These things seemingly have an amazing tread-life. I'm on track to get well over 65k miles (on a 5 tire rotation).

My neighbor has a set of Nitto Terra Grapplers in 275/60R20 in 116T, which are also very alluring. The edge I give to the nATs is their Aramid fibers. Anything that hedges my bets against flats on PAs inglorious pothole and debris riddled highways is a win by me. Plus they did amazing off-roading. I had zero traction issues, especially when compared to my wife's running the OEM Scorpion ATs (those things are hot garbage in comparison).

I think the biggest win would be if Nokian released a ~116 or 119 rated nAT, which would give us the appropriate load rating but spare a bit of the extra mass.

Hi, I’m an engineer at Goodyear that helped design the Wrangler Territory AT for Rivian. I’m very pleased with how this tire performs and I’m partially biased, but I think they look great on my R1T. I’ve heard good things about the Atomic wheels too. For anyone not aware, there is a lot of good info and feedback in this thread… https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/...y-at-275-60-20-factory-at-tires-saving.37522/

Thanks for the input. I read through that thread the other day, lots of great info in there.

I've heard good things about the Goodyears, and saw you were involved with testing/design of them. That's pretty reassuring. I really like the premise of a much lighter wheel/tire package and have had good luck with that premise on other vehicles, just not sure if it's worthwhile on something that weighs 7,200lbs already :D

Great feedback; thank you.

I recently had the service loaner while my t was in service. Had the 22in sport wheel package on it, and it rode SOOOO much nicer than my 20in AT package rides. I got to investigating and found that the 22's are almost 10lb lighter than the 20in AT setup. In that theory, I went "full lightweight" in thought process with the Goodyears and the Atomics. Would save nearly 26lbs/corner.

I'm on fairly smooth roads around Buffalo, and spend a fair amount of time on I-90, so highway sound/ride is just as important as off road prowess. However we did have 155in of snow last season here in the southtowns. So, I need/want to keep that 3PMS rating. At this point I'm not really worried about the 1/2in of clearance I would lose. Especially after watching guys at the NERC event go everywhere I did on the 22in sport setup that has the same clearance. All that said.....If the nAT's are the stock size, ride and wear well, are quiet, and have similar efficiency as the OEM Pirelli AT's; then I could save the wheels and just get those and move on with life. I'm leasing and am not sure I'll buyout at the end, so wheels would have to get resold in a couple years if I buy them.

Reducing unspring mass of the wheels and tires can have significant benefits regardless of the overall weight of the vehicle.

I got the Toyo ATiii LT275/65r20 EV. Was hoping for the SLs but those are 3-4 months backordered and I was down to 2/32”.

so far, 1000 miles in, 2.07 mpkwh, slowly improving. Even if it tapers off, I’m happy with the smoother and quieter ride with the tradeoff on slightly lower mpkwh vs stock pirellies (2.21 mpkwh over 27k miles)
As of the last 5 days the Toyos are ?less? backordered. In stock at both Tire Rack and Discount Tire, though you may have to call because supplies are still tight.

Just curious, is there a plan to release the same tire in 34"? I'd be a buyer
