I've read most of the threads here and on reddit. Now I have analysis paralysis.

Here are the details.

20" AT - Stock Pirelli - The noise is driving me nuts on the highway.
Wants: Less Noise AND ATs, 3PMS, Little to no range loss preferred.

I've been considering:

Nokian Outpost nAT
Michelin Defender LTX Platinum (Not 3PMS)
Toyo Tire Open Country A/T III EV

Is there a clear winner or option I'm not considering?

Thank you for the help!

I'm in the same boat and with the same desires (AT looks and capabilities, quieter, no loss in range).

I have it narrowed down to the Michelins or Toyo (in SL, not LT). As far as I can tell, the Toyos win out on range requirement vs Michelin (but are the Michelins quieter at higher mileage?)

The Michelins are not AT tires - they're beefy looking all-seasons.

If you want no range loss over the Pirelli AT and still want an AT tire, why not Goodyear Wrangler Territory AT? Rivian bills them as All Season but I think that sells them short.

True on the Michelins. For the Goodyears, not OP - but I want to keep the 34" profile. The pictures I see with the Goodyears mounted, they look just a touch small. I'd need to see them IRL.

The Michelin Defender LTX MS2 maybe be one you want to look at as well.

Think it should tick all of your boxes. Should’ve mentioned this in my joking reply, but I don’t want to edit it and have my real suggestion get lost.

I got the Toyo ATiii LT275/65r20 EV. Was hoping for the SLs but those are 3-4 months backordered and I was down to 2/32”.

so far, 1000 miles in, 2.07 mpkwh, slowly improving. Even if it tapers off, I’m happy with the smoother and quieter ride with the tradeoff on slightly lower mpkwh vs stock pirellies (2.21 mpkwh over 27k miles)

The Michelins have better ice/snow performance than stock ATs, despite not being 3PMSF, only because they lack in acceleration. It's a truly stupid antiquated system that needs a real overhaul.

I concur with Goodyears made for Rivian. They are closer to All Weather, Jack of all trades, and have 3PMSF.

I thought the same when I first switched, and pictures don't do justice, plus you never notice while you're driving. I honestly like the 33" better now, that half inch of height was all I needed for better ingress/egress.

I'm really liking my Firestone Destination XT's after 4k miles. Range is around the same as the Scorpion AT's but they are better in snow and rain. They are WAY quieter. Mileage is still low, so hopefully that doesn't change.

I have 26k on the OEP Pirelli ATs and they howl on just about every asphalt pavement from about 35MPH upward. Although there's still life in these tires, I pulled the trigger and went with a set of the Goodyear Territory ATs which Goodyear said are an on road AT. Since I have a full-size spare I'm hoping to get about 30k out of them. From discussions on here, these tires seem to be a good compromise between efficiency, looks, and traction. I don't do any real off roading so 1/2" less ground clearance won't be a deal breaker but I do drive up to the mountains so want something that has descent traction for the few times per year I"m up there. We shall see.

Concur re: the Goodyears. I was in the same boat and looking at the same tires, and had the same concerns going from 34" to 33." I ended up going with the Goodyears because they were specifically designed for the Rivian and once they added the ability to change tires in software it removed one complication in changing sizes.

@Riviot is right that they look great in person and I don't find myself really noticing the difference in size. I only do light off-roading at most so the difference in ground clearance has not bothered me at all.

They are so much more pleasant to drive than the worn out Pirelli ATs that it was like getting a new truck.

Go with the Toyo Tire Open Country A/T III EV and don't look back. I have 12k miles on my Toyo's and am extremely happy with them.

Range is maybe 2-3% better with the Toyos. They are WAY more capable off-road than the pirellis. They are much quieter than the pirellis. They come with more tread than the pirellis, so they should last longer too.

Honestly, the Toyos should come as the OEM AT tire for these trucks.

Just adding that the Nokian Outpost nAT is a heavier LT tire for 20 in. I love the idea, though, of putting the lighter SL on 22 in wheels.
