NYS Registration and Title

For NY Rivian owners: how long did you wait to get the registration/license plate and Title after delivery? Were they coming from DMV? Thanks

I think it took about 2-3 weeks to get the plates and regi in the mail. It came from Albany just like any other registration done online or by mail. The Rivian SC submits the paperwork you signed giving them POA to act on your behalf for registration purposes. I didn't have to do anything after picking up the vehicle, plates and regi just showed up one day.

The title came separately and took a bit longer, maybe a month or so later. I've registered many vehicles in the past and 45-60 days seems about right for how long it takes the DMV to process and send out titles.

Edit: Just checked my registration sticker. I took delivery on 12/22 and the sticker says 1/10. So it took Rivian/NYS just under 3 weeks to process everything. I probably got it in the mail 2-3 days later. Not bad considering it overlapped the holidays.

I wonder how personalized plates work. I would get the Rivian SC ordered plates first and then have to buy personalized afterwards? Picking it up Friday after an absurd insurance process debacle today

As soon as your registration shows up in the NYS MyDMV site, submit a request for personalized plates. It takes longer for the personalized plates to process and arrive than the ones Rivian submits so save time by doing it as soon as the first plate # is available to you online.

Yes it was financed and the title shows 1 lien from the bank as expected.

I had to do the vanity plates after delivery.

As another data point, I got my plates via FedEx 12 business days after receiving the truck from Brooklyn.

They do, and it wasn't done in the way I'd do it. I have my registration sticker parallel and close to the bottom of the windshield but the inspection sticker is too high up and at an angle so I have to stare at that monstrosity all day lol.

I transfered my plates I'm in NJ, picked-up in Brooklyn 3 weeks ago. I'm waiting on the new registration to be delivered so I can put the plates on, they are sitting in my truck. (Check out my profile picture for the actual plates).

I got my title in 6-7 weeks. I still have my plates (from my trade in) and am waiting for the registration.

For now I'm rocking the temp tag that they had on it in Brooklyn for pick-up, I have another 6 weeks or so on that.....
