I think a 2 mile follow distance is about right. Also, don't let vehicles come from the other direction and pass you.
Your situation sucks. Having lived in different parts of the country I've had very different experiences with windshields. Some areas seem to have conditions where rocks just jump out at every opportunity in order to hit your windshield and other areas where rocks avoid windshields.
I'm waiting for my SC to get mine replaced. The windshield has a crater that looks like a hardball hit it! We drove about 2000 miles on a road trip without a problem until we were 20 miles from home! Yes, the rocks in my neck of the woods got training from SafeLite!!!

is there any similarities between all the broken glass? Driving conditions and locations? Speed and situation?
Very unfortunate and is an outlier. Sorry to hear....

Would applying some like a clear PPF film help with this kind of thing? Like a phone screen protector?

So what happened to #1? Did one pierce the film? Or did you remove film and it got caught? Also, which film did you use?

Rivians are known to have weak glass. That being said, if you're on your Fourth one, then there is either a bad set of luck, something you're doing (driving too close), or lots of gravel around you.

My windshield has also broken 3 times. All 3 happened on an interstate in good weather with cruise control enabled and set to the maximum following distance.
I agree that maximum distance is uncomfortably close (does anyone use the close setting and so you risk getting a ticket for tailgating when you do?) but there is not a user accessbe setting to push it out further. If the maximum following distance setting is too close to avoid window breakage that is just as much Rivian's fault as their decision to use paper thin glass.

I have to say, my stupid cats (I love them, but good grief) walk up and down my windshield and all over my glass roof like it's the greatest thing in the world. And no breaks yet... knock on wood, LOL. Hopefully your luck with these things improves. Go buy a lottery ticket. Maybe 4th time's a charm?

I was planning on TWraps' solution, but I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger before our trip because I don't think it would have saved my windshield this time and I'd be out the added cost. I will probably invest once I get my new windshield.
BTW, I've done TWraps PPF all over my Rivian's front end and been very happy with their products.
