Not all the hoists were up when I checked last week. Tons of boxes of equipment that needs to be installed. The way Rivian moves, its just a gut feeling that it'll take that long.

The last phase of setup can go really quickly. Vancouver did.

Anyone else check daily if they are opening up test drives? Like I want my truck but sure would be nice to see what a rivian even looks like in person.

Hopefully in a few weeks!

Things are looking pretty good! Chargers are mostly installed, computer stations are set up, hoists look set up (not positive though) and some furniture is in.

I’m glad to see the progress, but am I the only one that thinks that this looks slapped together? Don’t get me wrong, I realize that it’s a Service / Delivery Centre but it looks like they’ve kept the banquet hall facade, the floor is cracked, they just threw up some dry wall to separate off the areas with cheap furniture, and the parking lot wasn’t repaved.

Once again, I know that Rivian is hemorrhaging $ and the key right now is to get the vehicles out the door, but as a first impression it looks like it’ll be underwhelming. At the end of the day, though, if the product is as good as it seems AND the service is good (Tesla’s is abysmal), they’ve got a customer (and a shareholder) here.

Service center vs experience center. IMO. Garage vs showroom.

Just give me my truck

I had no idea until this weekend but Lucid has a service center in GTA and Montreal. What's taking Rivian so long? Lucid is even doing test drives and delivering vehicles that were not pre-orders.

Hey it's october 31st, maybe they open tomorrow? One can dream...

I wish! I honestly just walked in and took some pictures. Heavily debating bringing one in from the States as soon as the SC opens. I'm a Rivian latecomer...

Looks like it won't be until January?

https://canada.autonews.com/retail/rivian-hiring-canada-ramps

Rivian is ramping up hiring for its soon-to-open service centres in Alberta, Ontario and Quebec, as it prepares to begin delivering vehicles to customers in the three provinces in early 2024.

The U.S.-based electric vehicle startup expects to employ “a few dozen” staff at each of the new locations in Calgary, Montreal and Vaughan, Ont., just north of Toronto, according to spokesperson Miranda Jimenez.

Hiring has already begun, and the company has several dozen active job listings across the three cities. The roles will focus mainly on service, mobile operations, and vehicle intake and delivery.

To complement its service centre in Vaughan, Rivian is also planning an on-site office for its Ontario customer support teams in the Toronto suburb. Recruitment has begun, but the headcount for that team has not been finalized, Jimenez said.

The new sites will facilitate the company’s expansion across Canada at the start of 2024.

Rivian plans to begin delivering vehicles in Ontario and Alberta “very early next year,” Jimenez said, with Quebec likely to follow toward the end of the first quarter.

To date, Rivian has shipped vehicles exclusively to Canadian customers in British Columbia from its base in Metro Vancouver. The company has a service centre in Richmond, an office in the downtown neighbourhood of Yaletown and a showroom in Burnaby that opened this July.

The EV maker’s showrooms, which it calls Spaces, are designed to give customers and prospective buyers greater in-person interaction with the brand. Jimenez said the newly opened Vancouver Space has exceeded company expectations so far, racking up three-times the foot traffic projected prior to opening.

The company does not break out Canadian sales figures, but said Oct. 2 that it delivered 15,564 vehicles in the third quarter. The Automotive News Research and Data Center in Detroit estimates Canadian third-quarter deliveries totaled 100 vehicles, split evenly between Rivian’s R1T pickup and R1S SUV.

The R1T is currently listed in Canada starting at $100,925, while the R1S starts at $107,675. Both prices include delivery.

As the California-based EV maker bolsters its Canadian network, it is also preparing to unveil a smaller and cheaper line of vehicles known as the Rivian R2.
