Just as an example, the Hummer frunk is better than the Rivian frunk, since it does not require reaching over the top to put stuff in.

That’s a cool feature... although I believe the Rivian trunk may be larger.

Totally agree that easier access would be great. However, I'd prefer to see a front "tailgate" (frunkgate?) similar to the rear of the R1S...would act as a barrier to keep things from falling out, but still able to put it down for easier access or loading heavier items.

It does look a lot smaller though. Plus, who knows if this design makes it to production for hummer. We were promised a 180 degree folding tailgate and that didn't make the cut, so perhaps there are things we are comparing to the hummer or cybertruck that may not make it to fruition either.

I would love a heated frunk for ski gear.
I would love it if Rivian would also configure it to be refrigerated for tailgating. The frunk looks like it should accommodate a pair of pony kegs. If so, a tap with hoses to a twin-spigot serving tower, permanently affixed to the passenger side (for obvious safety reasons) would be handy.

Rather than having to haul around those inconvenient tanks of CO², perhaps Rivian could configure the compressor to also operate by pumping out CO² to keep the kegs in a high SOC. Nothing ruins a tailgate more than "Keg Anxiety". If not, Helium or Nitrous could add to the fun on a Saturday afternoon. Or a Tuesday morning. Remember, it's only an addiction if you're trying to quit.?

Or just bring your kegerator along & run it off the R1...

If you think the Frunk — which basically every EV has — is Rivian’s competitive advantage, then you must think they’re going to fail.
I was thinking electric trucks vs gas trucks. There aren't very many viable electric trucks out there.

Yeah, at Mill Valley my 5'4" wife noted she couldn't reach the bottom of the frunk - or the back. I don't think the suspension was at its lowest height but it also wasn't at its highest. Might have to keep a step stool hanging inside the front edge just for her.

Skyote, That's way more logical, but a guy can dream, can't he? I just want to see it here first, before Elon steals my idea and offers it up with four spigots on the Cyper Truck, with his new "Free Beer For A Year" program, along with a built-in combination food processor/blender/air-fryer/microwave/grill unit. I'm pretty sure his will be powered by a gamma ray flux-capacitor system. I've got to hit the send button before the Superbowl begins to get this out there before Tesla springs this on the world in a last-second commercial they're likely working on feverishly to get on the air before halftime.

BTW, the word on the street is that Nikola was trying to outdo Elon with a similar contraption, to be powered by hydrogen, but rumor has it that it's now on hold.

Enjoy the game!

Certainly possible... although GM is an established automaker with way more experience brining products to market. They have an excellent understanding of what they can and cannot do, and what things cost. The multi-pro tailgate is already a feature on their GMC Sierra and some Silverado pickups — so you can basically guarantee on its inclusion with the Hummer.

I guess that’ll be a real test of “full self driving”. Until I can legally drink alcohol while the car drives, it’s not real “FSD”.

I don't disagree here but this is what is infuriating to me. Legacy auto's had Every opportunity (including bail outs for some) to roll out BEV literally decades sooner and resisted relentlessly. Instead waiting for startups to put forth proverbial Herculean effort to move the industry in their direction... Then Legacy autos came along, still kicking and screaming, only after being threatened with becoming obsolete and irrelevant relics of the second half of the industrial revolution. GM is pathetic, I will buy the Rivian even if it has build quality issues and I have to manually push it to my destination. Sorry for the rant.

100% agree. Something something "shareholders" is what they've always said.

Exactly, it's been deliberate to sell cars that require high maintenance and wear out quickly. I'm not even considering possible environmental advantages just a cost of ownership and superior product standpoint. Probably should have started a new thread instead of hijacking.
