I too have done the passenger seat sleep with baby behind the drivers seat in a travel bassinet, Honestly we both slept fantastic. Temps outside that night were around 35F, inside I kept it at 70 degrees.

Very interesting thanks for sharing @ridgetopview
Seems to be more related to outside temperature.
It's never changed for me. It was outside for ~36hrs in 20 degree weather and it still had to be 72 to give heat.
I'm beginning to wonder if there is something wrong with the sensor for mine because I can set it to 80 degrees and auto, I will get heat for a bit then the fan drops a bit slower and blows cold air and there is no way that it is even 68 at that point.

My first winter trip in the Rivian was better than expected. We live in southwestern WI with property in northeastern Door County, WI - 268 miles one-way. I’ve been trying to finish a project in DC and as Mother Nature plans poorly there was a two-day window to make a quick round trip to sew-up the project.

It was averaging 23° outside and I fueled our R1T max pack to 100%, 410 miles was the reported range, and I took off. Cabin comfortably set at 69°, seats and steering wheel heat on, tires at 50 psi, I stayed at 57 in 55 mph zones and 65-67 in Hwy 70 mph zones.

At the start of my trip the nav system said, charge in Oshkosh, about 2/3 of the total trip, for 20 mins. WTF, really?!?! And it showed that I would arrive at my destination with 10 miles, about 2.5%. I had about 3 hrs in front of me to see if that estimation was going to be true.

As I progressed my trip the destination arrival miles grew from 10 to 20 and by Oshkosh it said, 60. Ok, Rivian is a conservative estimator vs my 2021 Tesla MSLR is overly optimistic which drives me batshit crazy.

I drove past the ChargePoint 50kw charger and continued on. (BTW, the northeastern region of WI is literally a high-speed charging desert. There are no high-speed chargers but six 350kw EA chargers are scheduled to open later this month in Howard/Green Bay.

I was thrilled to see the original estimation becoming untrue.

I arrived at my destination with 90 miles and 22%.

The return trip home the following day with 100%, the nav system made the same recommendation and I drove past the recommended stop arriving home with 90 miles and 22% reserve.

(BTW, the passenger seat is a darn comfortable overnight recliner sleeper.)

From what I've seen, the Max pack has ~149 kWh or 2.75 miles/kw. You got ~2.40 in cold weather...that is excellent. Thanks for sharing.

The funny part is that I heard from OutofSpec reviews the Large and Max pack are identical and just have software differences. Wonder if my Large can be upgraded. Original order was for a Max pack. My once a month long range ride is 359mi one way utilizing Conserve on the interstates. I always have to stop and charge approx 1/2 way to make it with a bit in the battery. Just a Lil more please Rivian. Although since the last update battery efficiency has gotten better.

Nope, watch it again, that is not what Kyle said. There is a battery chemistry difference.

That is...incorrect. He said there is no change to the physical battery pack construction. The Large pack uses 15 kWh modules where the Max pack is estimated to be 16.5 kWh modules (gross vs usable).

But how? 69 degrees will blow AC when on auto unless I'm missing something?
I have to set to 72 or above to get it to switch to heat.

Glad to hear the trip went well!
you're missing something. It heats the vehicle up either way. The issue is how they present the graphic for that.

Right!!! Pretty comfortable recliner sleeper and the EV climate comfort is a game changer.

Where is that charger? We'll be in Fish creek next summer. Planning to use the Blink at town center however thinking it'd be good to know about others. Off of Q?

My heat or curly fries as you described doesn't come on until I hit 72 or 72°F so anything below that is just snow flakes. Just like @SlaterGS mentioned.
Just for a point of reference next time you see that what is your outside temperature. Maybe we can find the curve

Congrats! That just goes to show how much further you can go when you slow down a bit.

BTW, there are actually a lot of DC fast chargers in NE Wisconsin. Appleton has 8 250 kW Superchargers, Green Bay has 8 150 kW Superchargers, Manitowoc has 8 250 kW Superchargers, Sturgeon Bay has 8 250 kW Superchargers and Marinette has 8 250 kW Superchargers. Plenty to go around but I don't which ones will work with the NACS to CCS adapters when they become available and Tesla opens their network up to the public.

Yes, When I’m driving my Tesla MSLR I have no worries but until the SCs open to Rivian in NE WI the fast charging network for non-Teslas is sketchy at best. .
