The thing that will take the most time to get used to, in terms of parking in a tight garage, is hitting the exact spot to park the first time.

Unlike a regular vehicle that can roll or creep slowly, OPD makes it harder because the nature of regen braking so if you need to move few inches to clear the garage door, or back up a bit, its not like being able to take your foot off the brake and let it creep. Rivian has a brake hold philosophy and you have to touch the accelerator pedal. Many EVs have creep mode but not Rivian.

You'll get used to it, eventually.
It can be done. Press accelerator slowly it will start creeping forward or backward. Don't be a lead foot. I do it everyday. Without break. It can go as slow as 0.5 mph.

I assume the R2 will also shift into park if you remove the seatbelt or open the door? At least that's how mine works...parking in the garage has never been easier.

IMHO once you get accustomed to one pedal driving, you will never want to go back. Should take a few days max. I rarely touch the brake pedal.
I don't think removing seat belt put it on park. Opening door.... Yes.
Tesla will do that. Removing seat belt or opening door.

It will stop just fine and of course have regular brake. Besides coming off a freeway offramp at 80mph I have used my brake approximately 1% of time while owning Rivians. You will love it.
Same here.

Let me start off by saying I am new to EVs and pardon my ignorance. I plan on buying the R2 when I get my invite. With that being said I test drove it and was impressed. I will be learning the one pedal system and know it will be a learning experience. When I test drove and took my foot off the accelerator the vehicle did have a light touch and I was able to roll at a nice distance, it was also on the lowest setting for regenerative braking. I plan on parking in the garage so my question is how do I completely stop or brake the vehicle to park it in the garage without hitting or running into the wall? It seems like it would be difficult with one pedal. Is there a method or advice someone can provide me. Again I apologize for my ignorance and if this is a dumb question but this has been weighing heavy on my mind and I am confused and not sure how this would work when driving it inside the garage to park. I Greatly and sincerely appreciate anyone’s comments.
Self parking is suppose to launch this year. I am waiting for that one.

Oh sure it can but is jerky. Its not a question of able to; rather, how well or smoothly compared to vehicles that are allowed to roll.

Why the brake and not simply lift up on the stalk? I don't like flashing brake lights when I'm not actually braking...

I always put it in park. I have a friend who's Mercedes automatically put it in park when you opened the door. He took his wife's Subaru out and forgot something so he returned home - hopped out and the car kept rolling! He was lucky he didn't hit anything (like his garage door) before he got back in and properly put it in park.

I find that I can creep very easily with my pedal on gen 1 R1T. I don't mind the break at all. I test drove the R2 and the pedal is definitely more aggressive early, but seemed more refined. I expect you won't need to mind the break once you get used to it.

The brake pedal and brakes are still there. One pedal driving doesn’t mean those things are only there for decoration. Those who don’t brake are those who drive too slow, or lift their foot off of the accelerator sooner. With high regen it’s possible to not need to brake, all pending how well you anticipate and judge your speed and distances.

Thanks mkg3 I did not know that about Rivian.

My VW id.4 Pro allows the car to creep. The Pro S model I drove as a loaner did NOT creep if you pushed the brake pedal harder.
Our ID4 AWD Pro S does the same thing and I HATE IT. I'm used to my R1T where it comes to a complete stop without having to use a second pedal. I love one pedal driving.

The brake pedal works just fine to stop right where you want. Even if the Brake by Wire system fails, the hydraulic system is a good backup. You will have zero issues.

I agree. Left foot braking is my recommendation. Let the car creep forward on its own, then you can regulate the car movement by having that left foot kind of hover over the brake pedal to micromanage your movement into the garage.
The vehicle does not have a creep function like the older Teslas or an ICE car has (with a torque converter). He will have to learn to feather the pedal for those small incremental movements into and out of the garage. Rivian (and Tesla) sorely need to bring back the creep function.
