Hey all,

My wife and I were out shopping for an ICE vehicle when we saw a used 2024 R1S with 3k that was just traded in. We drove it, fell in love and BOOM were now in the electric game.

Absolutely LOVE this thing but we are having an issue I was hoping someone could help with.

We have an attached garage and our Kitchen is about 5 feet away from our parked R1S. Our bedroom also happens to be directly above the garage putting us well within the proximity range. We are locking and unlocking the car unintentionally quite often.

We both have our Apps closed while at home and it is still unlocking and locking the car. I searched here and on google and can't find a great answer. Is the phone as a key feature something that just won't work for us because of our house setup? Would love some input!

Yes. You can have proximity off when at “home”. It’s in the vehicle settings, i dont have the exact steps to hand right now.

Agreed with the other comment, turn off proximity at home if it's in the garage it'll stay unlocked while at home.

The only thing this causes problems with is roomy entry/ exit.

When you leave the truck long enough for it to go to sleep, if you get back in, before all systems are working and press the brake, the seat/ wheel won't return to the driving position. You have 2 choices. Press your name then press restore, OR, wait longer to press the brake pedal after getting in, like 30 seconds does it.

Oh man! Thanks for the tip! I was trying to figure out that exact problem. Hadn’t hit frustration level yet but certainly noticed it.

I have a similar problem where my office is above the garage. I turn off Bluetooth on my phone while I’m in my office. And turn it back on again when I want to get into the car. It works for me because I don’t need Bluetooth during the day and it’s super quick easy from the Home Screen - but I’d imagine that may not be suitable for you if you use Bluetooth around the home at all.

Why does Rivian make it that you can't control the vehicle from the app unless you have it setup at PAAK, kinda silly that you can't do lock/unlock and other features in the app.

Most other cars i have own can accomplish this feat without having the PAAK.
