I am finding it a challenge to get my discount for the EA Pass+. If I make the mistake of plugging in first the non-discounted rate seems to apply. But when internet is spotty, I can't always rely on the app to read my account, which I understand is a requirement for getting the better rate. Is there a bullet proof way to get my discount?

Only way that I know if is to make sure the app and the charger have properly connected and that your discount is reflected before plugging in. Otherwise Plug & Charge takes over...

I've struggled with this as well - the last EA charger I used wouldn't recognize I was there until I plugged in and then it was too late...I didn't need much more than 10 minutes there so I wasn't too worried about it, but I do have a $48 credit sitting in my EA account that I'd like to use. I know they'll refund it, but it's kinda like finding cash in a coat pocket

I've generally been able to have the app open and at the to "swipe to charge" for my given charger, then plug in, and IMMEDIATELY swipe to charge. It seemes to work more often than not.

This weekend it didn't work as usual and the easiest way to verify if I'm getting the discount is to look at the charger screen. If it says, "Welcome, Charger" vs. "Welcome, Matt (my name)" then I know the plug & charge took over. It also has the higher rate. In this instance, I stopped the charge session, unplugged and tried again and it worked with the lower rate.

So had any EV figured out how to use plug and charge with subscriptions? Seems like it only works if it's the same company, i.e. Tesla to Supercharger or Rivian to RAN. Seems to be kind of a miss that you can't get a charging subscription and have plug and charge.

I've not heard of it being worked out anywhere. My guess is that it would involve sharing data between companies that each one doesn't want released (knowing subscription sign-up numbers would be quite valuable info for a competitor to have....).

I ran into this on my last trip. EA is now "plug and play" with Rivian, so if you plug in first you will always have to pay the higher price.
At one stop, I had no signal on my Verizon phone, but the car had a good signal. I turned on the car's hotspot, then logged in on my phone to open the app.
