I don't use it daily but when traveling even with the back not being full I put items in the frunk. When we go on major family trips I don't need a roof top carrier anymore as the frunk holds the stuff that would go up top.

When I go camping with the scouts I put items I would rather not have easy access too such as axe, hatchets, or firewood and my equipment to make charcoal. It also prevents those items from adding any odor to the cabin.
It's also great for transporting dog poop bags to a trashcan, lol

My Model Y frunk holds my jack, tire repair kit, lifting pucks, lug wrench, chocks, roof sun shade, kneeling pad, emergency blanket, etc. for thing I rarely need if ever but peace of mind stuff. The sunshade comes out when the day time temps start staying over 80F in the spring and goes back when the fall temps go back down. So a minimum of twice a year it gets opened if there's no tire issues or a need to refill the washer fluid. I did install a soft close latch since pressing on the hood annoyed me. I just remember the 1 time I changed the bio-defense filter (every 3 years) that is under there besides when I installed the soft close.

Model Y owner here. I keep my workout and climbing gear in there, used on an (almost) daily basis. Swap in family sandals, toys, and hiking shoes on short trips to trails or the beach, firewood on camping trips, and then all our dirty laundry at the end of said trips. Easily one of my favorite features on our EV.

I have a Porsche Boxster and I never use the frunk. It simply is not in an easily accessible location. I use the rear trunk exclusively for groceries, etc. And I am not going to start backing into parking spaces just to use a frunk.

I get that - but the frunk on the R1 is different...You don't have to be directly in front of it to put something in. There have been lots of times when I'm walking out to my car, pop the frunk on my phone, throw the groceries in from the driver's side, get in the Rivian and close the frunk and drive off.

I was going to point out that, being a Boxster, it has a very low hood as well as the secondary safety latch, so perhaps an R2 at normal height may be easier to use. But there is still the head in parking issue. I see the frunk being more useful for storage of emergency items.
