And done! Dropped it off in San Jose SC this morning and picked it up around 4:30pm. Works like a charm. They gave me Lyft vouchers to go back and forth. Very smooth experience. Their parking lot is full.
SC called me early December wanting me to schedule for the same day as you (12/21) but I delayed it because I was going on vacation. I just got it installed 1/15/24. Runs smoother than the old one, but it makes a clicking noise as the cover it closing over the bed. I'm trying to verify if the open window/door icon in the app works with the new tonneau cover like it does for the doors, liftgate, etc. Mine doesn't show if the cover is open or closed. Does yours show anything in the app if it is left open?

My app doesn't show the PTC status nor does it control it

How are all the powered tonneau cover replacements going? I haven't seen any posts lately, so just curious...

Picked up my truck 2 weeks ago today and haven't had any issues with it. It sounds better as it retracts and doesn't sound like it's gonna catch or bind up.

Good to hear, curious which SC and what's your VIN range? Rivian service said they're scheduling in batches based on VINs and I'm curious how far they're along. My VIN is 12k+.

I have had mine back for almost 2 months now. Working great. Still sounds like the old version, but it definitely works much much better. I open and close it several times a day running around for work. My R1T is an early VIN (3K). There is not much I would change on this truck now. Very happy overall. Her 2 year anniversary will be March 31st. Doesn't seem like it's been 2 years!

It was at San Jose, CA. Mine is one of the very first batches of trucks off the production line. VIN 45!!!

I scheduled my power tonneau replacement yesterday for mid-March in Phoenix. I may have cheated a bit. I had an appointment today for one of my R1S's in Phoenix and was talking yesterday to the local SC about the work to be done, drop off, and rental logistics. She asked if I had any other questions so I asked about the tonneau replacement on my R1T for which I've had an open ticket since 6/2023 (I know others have been waiting longer). She said she'd look into it and called me back an hour later and offered me an appointment.

Talking to the Brooklyn technician yesterday he says the fix to improve the cover was to increase the leaf spring that pushes the slates up. It doesn't appear to be that much of a redesign. He also said, If your cover works, it will not be retrofitted until it fails.

My cover (VIN 50XX) had worked perfectly for nearly two years now and I’ve never had a ticket open for it. They called to schedule replacement in early February and replacement was completed in late March. So they are retrofitting, at the very least some, working covers proactively.

Edit to add: Seattle area. I didn’t ask about the details of the change. Sounds more or less identical to the old one for me. Also, I never did any maintenance at all on the old one so I’m not sure why the tonneau gods smiled on me and kept it working for so long.

Maybe your service center is not as busy. He also mentioned that there was very low inventory on the new parts. My VIN is very close to yours (#55XX) and no word. Maybe he is just BSing. :)

Yeah, who knows. We all know that Rivian doesn’t have a great track record of consistent responses. Lol. I just wanted to provide my alternate anecdotal data. ?‍♂

I believe the new parts inventory is the biggest factor in the slow rollout. I base this on my experience with the Denver SC. It seems they got an initial batch at the end of last year, scheduled appointments for what they had and then had to wait for another tranche of parts, which one of the advisors at the SC told me they got in January when I was there. Then there were a handful of reports of people being contacted in March (myself included) for April appointments.

After making periodic calls over the last year, I finally got an appointment in June. VIN 92XX. Richmond SC. Current tonneau broke before delivery, was fixed, and failed again in Oct 22.
