Took a 1500 mile trip last week. Outside temps were high 80s. I noticed the preconditioning fan was just ripping and very loud when I approached the DCFCs. Very loud and causing vibrations in the dashboard.

Truck has 10k miles. Just wondering if there’s any correlation to louder preconditioning fan noise on the newest firmware 2023.18.0. Hard for me to tell if it’s version related since I don’t regularly travel.

For what it’s worth I noticed the same new load noise on this past weeks 1,800 mile trip to Montana - never noticed it before the update! Starts during the preconditioning phase…

FWIW, I just did 3000 miles on .14 and it was exactly as described ... super loud and vibrated through the firewall. The vibration through the accelerator pedal was particularly annoying, and left my foot feeling all tingly. Did not like.

Anyway, that was before update [to .18]

We’ve noticed the same loud noise in last week on two 500 trips. Very loud and vibration is very noticeable. Never felt it before update.

Same last weekend in the low 80s. Was really ripping but didn't notice the vibrations. Preconditioning seemed to start about 30 minutes out vs the 60 or so that it used to do.
Got good charging speeds at RANs so the preconditioning seems to be doing it's job. Didn't notice any efficiency degradation. In the past I have heard it ripping like that but more just post charging as you drive away from charging location.

I’ve noticed the preconditioning fans getting louder when I put in for a charge using the navigational map after the last update..

I've noticed exactly the same thing. I first noticed it 6-8 weeks ago, on a road trip. At the time I thought it was a side effect of a recent HVAC repair. Sounds exactly the same as in your video. It's so loud!

Mine made the noise on May 9th on a road trip. Temps in the 80s ambient.

The vibration only happened while the truck was in motion. When I was stopped the fans were loud but the vibration noise stopped.

At this point I stopped using the built in NAV and switched to ABRP. Used the NAV to navigate direct to the next charger and it didn't precondition.

My experience was that preconditioning didn't do anything anyway...just wasted energy. I seemed to get faster charging speeds the times I didn't precondition. Now in the cold probably more worth it to precondition.

I suspect the noise is not anything failing....just probably need some rubber washers somewhere to cut down on the NVH.

I never noticed any improvement in charging, and it seemed like it just took longer to charge from the wasted energy.

I have started using the nav but dropping a pin next to the station instead of direct to the station.
