I have been dealing with this as well. It seems to be a little better but not much with this weeks update. The truck seems to hit my daily limit of 75% and then slowly go down, however now it seems to put some charge back in once it hits a certain level to "top off" very randomly. Like today it hit 73% and put some juice back in, but its back to 74 now with "charge complete".

It used to stay right at the set percent. However since it doesn't now, I have had to just up the limit to like 76/77% for it start charging again before I leave.

I know they tweaked the decimals in the charge limits I wanted to say last update according to another post. So my money is on something is screwy with the rounding the trucks doing. Or the threshold to keep the truck at X% wasn't updated with the decimal change. For instance before 75% was 75.0%, now its 74.99%.

I'm seeing this as well, where I MUST physically unplug the charging cable to get my vehicle to do ANY charging after the first time it hits the charge target.

Meaning - I go out, drive, get home, plugin and vehicle charges to current charge target. AFTER this point, it will never initiate a charge again (battery will slowly drain) regardless of disabling/changing schedule or changing desired state of charge - no "software" mechanism (at least from mobile app) will cause my R1S to start charging again, I must physically go unplug/re-plug the cable for it to top off again.

This kinda needs to get fixed. Is the consensus that this only affects R1Ss? Did the most recent software update change this for anyone? I have not gotten it yet so I can't test.
Nope it's occuring on my T.

I have a Chargepoint Flex and this issue started happening after the update before xxx30. Was that one 28 or something like that? Very strange behavior. Before the update the R1S charged to 80% and stayed at 80%. Worked great. Then one day I noticed that it was at 78% after sitting in the garage plugged in. Unplugged and plugged back in... nothing happened, the R1 didn't start charging to top off. Drive around, come home, plug in and it starts charging back to 80. Super frustrating behavior. Phantom drain is bad enough... but not keeping charged while plugged in is just adding to the issue.

So yes... this seems to be a real problem that was introduced last month.

I have a Wallbox and it will charge put o +/- 1% of the set limit. The truck and the charger say charge finished. Then if it drops down, Artee will take a little more charge. Last night for Example, I charged it up to 85%, then it shut off while I was asleep. Then about mid morning, the Wall box sent me another message saying a second session had finished charging.

Now I have Enel Xway at my vacation house, and it seems to not stop a charge session. I've seen 15-15 hour "sessions" when the truck reached its set limit in about 7-8 hours of charging. I need to watch the behavior of this charger more thought as I haven't used it a whole lot yet.

Not a problem on my side. seems to be topping up after initial charge just fine.

Both my R1T and R1S are doing this. I could only cast 1 vote so I voted for R1T. R1T is in latest software and R1S was not. Both work fine with the mobile charger. I’ve opened a case with Rivian charging team.

Happened to me for the first time yesterday. Stopped 2% short of target. I upped the target a couple higher in the app and it restarted, but stopped 2% short of that. So at least I didn't have to unplug it to get it to start again. It also briefly started overnight while I was sleeping to keep it 2% under the target.

I did a road trip Tues/Wed and it completed the full charge to the set target every time using a DCFC. So either the bug just hit me yesterday or this only happens with lvl 2 charging??

My service ticket was escalated to the charging team yesterday for this issue. They emailed me today that they are aware of the issue and they are working to address it in a future update.

Hopefully the next update then if this is true.

It needs to be the next update.

Rivian - you need to keep your car plugged in or it may end poorly (see the continuing random 12v threads)

also Rivian - Yeah umm it won’t restart the charge if it’s plugged in. So?

I'm seeing the same on my R1T as well - thought I was going crazy when my range was continuing to go down but it was directly correlating with only charging to 68-69% instead of my preset 70%. It also seems when I do get to 70%, it almost immediately drops to 69% as if it barely reached 70%.

I'm curious, which would you rather have:

The vehicle stays exactly at the % threshold while plugged in, which means keeping the vehicle awake 24/7 to constantly check the battery level, wasting a LOT of energy.

Or

The vehicle stays within +/-x% of the set threshold. Where the vehicle sleeps the majority of the time, periodically waking up to check the HV battery level and restart charging when outside the lower tolerance level. So if it is set to 70% and the threshold is 2% it could charge to 72% then sleep till 67% and restart charging.

Originally the vehicle would try to maintain the set % threshold exactly, which leads to the vehicle never sleeping and people complaining about how much "vampire drain" the vehicle has while plugged in.

Any losses should be minimal. My T only takes about 5 minutes to top up. If you let the truck drop by more than 1% then you need a longer charging session to bring it back up which means you may need cooling for example. Tesla was able to do this....never had an issue with either Model Y in this respect. My 2017 Bolt EV even did it. I could see mini charging sessions where it would pull well under 1 kwh . Usually like 0.5 kwh or less.

It also needs to condition the battery from time to time in hot/cold temp extremes.

None of these should cause any significant vampire drain.

I’ve recently noticed my R1S stopping 2% short of the charging limit. I can raise the limit in the app and it will continue to charge. This started some time after I installed the most recent software update.
