Hi folks, I have a 2023 R1T quad with 20K miles on it. I have 2 things that i'm wondering on. Overall the truck has been fantastic and these seem minor but checking if they could be more or are things others have experienced:

1) When accelerating / decelerating the truck kind of clicks. Its sort of like something is loose. I can hit full power and it drives ok but there's an odd noise as I change velocity like something is moving. Seems like its front suspension somewhere. Its one of those things I know its probably hard to track down, needs a decent test drive and the Rivian service is a couple hours each way. Thoughts?

2) I have the 20" AT tires (factory) with 20K miles on them. Rotated them every 5K. They make a lot more noise at low speeds (not very low but maybe in the 20-40 mph range). They also seem to have a lot more wear on their inside edge than the rest. Still seems like plenty of tread but could uneven wear do this? And what would cause excessive wear on the inside edge and have others seen that?

Thanks in advance for any help. Havent seen these elsewhere.

1. Could be half shaft bolts loose but more likely you are hearing them rattle check the suspension noise threads there are a few videos posted with the noise they make. Don't think there has been a long term fix for that.

2. Yes uneven tire wear will cause tires to be noisy. Could be an alignment issue or the ride height you are using, lower ride height will have more camber. @20k miles they probably need replacement anyways as they don't last much longer for most.

1. The noise may be related to a recent TSB Rivian has out on these vehicles. It's drivable, but it does make noise. More on that here.

2. My Pirelli AT20s haul like a wolf at the moon and that's a common complaint about these tires when they get about 15k on them. Some have said they tend to get better about 25k again...but I'm not holding out hope. Mine are wearing pretty even for the most part and will likely go another 10-15k - if I can stand it. I'd suggest having the alignment checked by Rivian and note the uneven wear...it seems these things can be fussy with tire alignment.

Thanks, not mechanical but with added half shaft I found a few threads. My main question is if its a sign of something that will get worse or if its just an annoyance? Really dont want to drive to Chelsea MA.

I drive 99% of the time in AP with whatever it does with ride heights. Default settings. Is there a setting that would maybe even it back out? Next time I have the truck in for a rotation (another 3k miles) i'll have them check out the wear and let me know what they think. I use a trusted local tire shop. If its some kind of alignment type thing can third party shops do that now with Rivian?

Mine is not a chirp or clunk, more of a click and it only does it once per change in velocity (most noticeable/annoying in traffic / stop signs/lights but you can make it happen on the highway just accelerating/decelerating).

I'll probably swap off the ATs (I dont really need that) to something quieter with better life when these are done.

If the clicking noise is not the half shaft clunk then there is a possibility that it will get worse as it could be anything from loose bolts, bad CV or internal motor issue. Probably best to schedule an appointment with the service center and have them check the alignment and the noise at the same time.

Mine would click with each change between acel/decel. Only qould really hear it close to stopping and starting speeds.

They installed ting washers and a new cast lower subframe and it cured it for 5k miles so far.

They do not get better….maybe even louder and more annoying. That said; I’m replacing them today (with Falkens) just under 40k miles….so they did alright as far as wear….
