I'm hoping for some discounts at some point if inventories get too high. I would probably trade mine in for a newer one with (hopefully) better build quality, less noisy suspension, DM with no noisy half-shafts, better 12v set up, cast sub frames...not worried about losing wood accents behind the seats or 2 12v plugs that I never use.

Takes me back to a year or more ago when I thought getting that R2 to market asap was so important. So important that building a plant from scratch seemed a bad decision at least to me. But most said I was wrong...only way to build the R2 is in a brand new plant. No existing plants or facilities existed to make it happen faster. The time to market for the R2 continues to concern me.
It'd be nice to use an existing plant but the good news is the world knows how to build buildings and plants with very predictable time frames so I don't actually think the construction is going to be the long tail.

If Boeing spends billions on r&d for new aircraft do you think they make a profit selling 100 aircraft? Doesn’t work that way
That's comparing apples with watermelons!

I am loving my QM to DM upgrade! I highly recommend it!

What was your reasoning going to DM?
Discussed at length in multiple threads here, but The main reason is lateral stability on slippery surfaces. Because the DM uses differentials, it is inherently laterally stable, the QM is not. That's not going to bother most people most of the time, but for my purposes it was a killer.

Added benefits I have found from switching are better manners Off-road (the more powerful Enduros don't stall out on tough obstacles), and of course the added efficiency/range is nice.

For drag racing, the QM is king, but for everything else I like the DM better.

Is it true that Rivian is losing about $30,000 per vehicle they sell? I thought I read that somewhere. If that is the case, we're all in trouble.
There's only so long that Rivian's reserves can last. Please say it ain't so!
It is true. They are losing 33k per vehicle sold. But that's from 130k a year ago. They are improving by making more things in-house. Rivian claims to be profitable by next fall. Which would be incredible if it's done.

I hope they lower their prices, and make the truck with some upgrades still be under 80k, to get the credit/rebate. I think if they lower the standard R1T to around 65k, it'll be a game-changer. But I don't think that will happen.

Allow people to buy them outside of service areas who are still waiting and have been waiting years. Problem solved.

As long as the discounts don't result in lower trade in/sale values.......

$33k / vehicle was from the second quarter. It just seems like news bc the WSJ featured it prominently in a big Rivian article the day Q3 production figures came out. $33k was based largely on locked prices, and prior to some economizing. We’ll find out Q3 numbers in two weeks. I’m predicting it’ll be below $20.

From OP, per your request:
Was 258 R1Ts last Friday - all configurations.
As of today (Monday) 10/30 - 302 R1Ts - all configurations

Update: 80 of them Max Pack (zero of those with All Terrain Pkg or just Under Body Shield)
Only 1 (Quad Large) with Powered Tonneau Cover (same blue one that has been there for months)
What're you seeing this week? I just counted 154 max packs today - big jump from 80. Seems like they've really stepped up production of them.

There is definitely alot more than 200 in their inventory. I am not commenting on if the amount is good or bad, but if you follow the quarterly reports and do the math on the difference between produced and delivered....it is a big number. I keep wondering all those produced but not delivered vehicles are going.
Let me tell you about rail transport......

Given the news yesterday about Rivian offering some incentives for the R1T, I did another count today....192 R1T Max packs!

Curious what you are seeing if you want to compare notes again :)
