R2 definitely needs Rivian Blue and Red Canyon. The Borealis take rate will be very very low after the initial sales. Historically purple vehicles do not sell well. Kinda like station wagons...everyone on the internet will claims they want it but no one actually shows up to buy it.

I hope to be pleasantly surprised but I think you're right. While I bemoan the lack of more fun colors, most people I talk to that are looking to order one are like "I'll take the white or the black one!"

For me, the R2 looks fun and sporty so a unique color makes total sense. For someone wanting a strictly commuter vehicle, I get that they probably won't care about the color and just go for whatever is cheaper. I'm not a purple guy but given the current offerings, that is the lead for me. It looks great on the R2.

Does it take into consideration most of the top colors are colors offered for free though.

It does not but most paint colors are not free from any OEM.

there is always a color that a buyer does not pay extra for. The R2 has Glacier White Esker Silver for example. A lot of times it is a white, black, or gray/silver. That will impact what colors people buy, especially in an economy where cars are getting too expensive for people.

White is $1000 extra lol. Esker Silver is the only free color.

Yes, so "most paint colors are not free" as I said.

I suspect you are correct. I was going to change from Esker Silver to Borealis, but thought better of it after looking at an image long enough. I may switch to Forest Green, but that's the only option I'd switch to now.
