I was reading about various SC events, etc. and it got me thinking about the Rivian service loaner fleet. When the R2 ships, will Rivian transition service loaners to the R2? As an owner of the "Flagship" R1, would you expect an R1 service loaner?

I'm hoping that they will have both R1 & R2 in the loaner fleet at the SC's. I've got a loaner right now and it's been interesting driving the PDM Max Pack as a change from my Gen1 Quad. I just wish it had been a Gen2 so I could try UHF, but alas it's not. I'd love to have the option to try the R2 (assuming I haven't already bought one) if my only ride was a R1 (and vice-versa). As long as I get a Rivian loaner, I'm pretty happy. Knock on wood, the two times I have had to take our Rivian for service they've had a R1S loaner available.

For many years we had Nissan vehicles. The dealership offered a free loaner vehicle if your repair was going to take more than 4 hours. They kept several base model Rogues for lend. We're not picky. When my R1T needed the recall service back in October, we got a launch edition R1S (yes, 1st gen) as the loaner.

Yes, it drove and handled like a truck; not in a nice way. But it served the purpose. Had it for 4 days.

My vote - any rivian vehicle as a loaner would be excellent.
Or even any EV would be better than the enterprise nissan sentra I won in the rental roulette at Malvern,PA. EVs are not widely accepted by the populous around here so they don't stock much at enterprise.

Hopefully the R2 has good reliability (no air suspension to fail) and lower cost which might translate to more widespread availability as a loaner.

If the R2's driving dynamics is as good as RJ alludes to, I'm sure most people won't care. Only exception obviously being the people that need more than 5 seats.

Personally I wouldn't really care what the loaner is, just as long as I got one.

That being said there is some logic to having R1 customers only get R1 loaners. Kind of a benefit to stepping up to the flagship kind of thing.

That is an excellent use for all those non-LiDAR equipped first builds. :)

Loaner is a luxury and yes we are paying luxury prices. Having said that giving you any vehicle is a bonus, if you require a large SUV/Truck then you should request it when you make your appointment. With R1's being traded in for Gen2 and soon Gen3 and the R2 we will see more loaners like that.

Got a Gen2 R1S today as a loaner when I dropped off my Gen1 R1T for service. I would be fine with any Rivian vehicle as a loaner. Not sure why anyone would be that picky, any Rivian loaner is way better than any ICE vehicle you might get from Enterprise.

It's a given that early production R2 demo and press fleet units will end up as loaners. No sense letting them sit around doing nothing. And the loaner fleet will be a mix of R1, R2 and eventually R3.

Man I love Malvern so much for what Larry and Ty and the team do. Really, they're great in all aspects.

But I've been there too many times for various things, and I've never once gotten a loaner (always a crappy Enter'prize'). My wife on the other hand: she only had to take her R1S in once, and SHE got a loaner.

My conspiracy theory based on my anecdotal experience is that they prioritize loaners for the pretty ladies, but I can't prove it ;)

We use to own BMW vehicles. The dealership we bought from had highly optioned loaners. The service Advisor once told me that the loaners drove a lot of sales for the new cars.
I would prefer a Rivian loaner. Show us what is new and neat. Spoil us with the new features and then give us our old vehicles back. We might trade a little sooner them.

Well, the fact that this old, overweight guy got a loaner for two weeks puts a bit of a dent in your conspiracy theory...Sorry...Perhaps it's just you?

I suspect I'll be going back soon...While I was driving home on the Turnpike yesterday after picking our Rivian up the infotainment system did a random reboot while I was driving. I couldn't see any messages because I was on the phone with my wife when the "beep-beep, beep-beep" happened, but I did grab a photo of the blank driver's screen. We'll see. I will request a loaner when I book the appointment if it does need to go back.
