What the heck??? They can't align a charge port door? How does that pass QC?
My 2025 R1S which I bought lightly used (3 mo. after delivery and 3,800 miles) had a misaligned charge port door. I had the exact same thought, how did this thing make it through final test or final QC? It was such an obvious outlier 🤦‍♂️. My second thought was why did the original owner accept it? None the less, I had it addressed at the local SC. Is it perfect, no. But they said they would not be able to get it perfectly aligned without removing most of the front end body panels. I called it good enough and moved on. It’s been 18 months and no issues since.

Of course you sometimes have to draw a line on what you're willing to live with vs. having it properly fixed at the risk of introducing new issues cause by invasive repair efforts. As far as that non-motorized charge port door, it could possibly be fixed by a simple twist since people have already said it's a flimsy sheet metal component. If not, just shim it and be done with it. Selling a new vehicle where someone instantly notices a glaring defect when looking at a low-res photo is just not a good look for Rivian. I wonder what RJ would say if he saw that photo?

Unfortunately the charge port door is pure ass. I had to take my R2 in for re alignment. I am sure this will be alot of owners complain once they receive the vehicle. Door is ass. Not a door it's just a flop. Pure ass.

They shoulda put it up front instead.
I do agree with the assesment. Given the original description used by @HAL9000, what would the description be if it was "up front" and out of alignment? j/k

RJ has a lot of experience with comically misaligned parts.

The charge port door is slightly misaligned on at least half of the "real life" R2s I've seen online. Including the one I drove in Knightdale, NC. It poked out a little more at the bottom than everywhere else.

My early R1S had 2 badly aligned door handles on delivery. One of them could not be fixed and they offered to replace the door which I declined. I would have hoped the R1 experience would have ensured panel misalignment was resolved prior to production models.
