I think 18 inch rims are a real possibility. The R1 is 7k lbs with 9k or 11k tow rating. R2 could reasonably be 5k with 5k towing which is very much in the realm of vehicles with 18 inch and smaller rims.

Irrelevant. They aren’t as heavy. And they have poor stopping distances.
I don't think the R2 is going to have a 9950 GVWR

That's with 16" rims.

You can put 17's on a Hummer EV. 18's should be easy.
And at the expense of stopping distance. Hummer truck: 137~158 ft. R1T: 116~130 ft. Moot "what about" argument. The R2 is not being designed by GM and not designed as how GM would have done it.
