I'm very ignorant in this area, but how is ride feel adjusted with a traditional coil system?

Nice to see more than a 15min snapshot for efficiency, hoping some more options in this area come s00n.

I'm also not an expert, but as I understand it the ride feel is a result of the adaptive dampening hydraulic system, not the air suspension which controls ride height.

In the R2, coils replace the air bags which means a fixed ride height but if the same or a similar adaptive hydraulic system underlays the coils it will still allow for adjustment.

We don't know a ton about how the system will actually be built, other than that it will be a more traditional system (no air ride, and no cross-linked hydraulic anti-roll system).

I want to see the suitcase test. I have done this with a bunch of vehicles to see how many full sized suitcases I can fit in the back. R1S is somewhat big for our needs but I would want to see how many the R2 could fit.

That's not terribly surprising. Hopefully the team will be able to develop something that gives similar driving dynamics at a lower cost. I do have a lot of faith in the folks at Rivian to have the driving dynamics dialed in, and the R2 being lighter with a lower center of gravity should make that task a lot easier.

I would literally go and buy one today if these were available. It's going to be very frustrating to have to wait 2+ years. Maybe they're smart though as I'll likely grow tired of waiting and pick up an R1S.

I like this better than what we have in our R1. I wish it was an option. Glad they did that on the R2.

It can certainly have adaptive dampeners with out an air suspension, I bet they are a non-cross linked version to save $$. There is a lot you can do here to provide different drive settings w/o all the (beautiful) complexity of the R1 -

RJ has said they won't have the fancy hydraulic linked suspension of the R1 in the R2 to meet the cost target.
