I love our 10-day old R1S. I am still very much in that "anxious mode", listening for any and all abnormal-sounding noises, so I may be overthinking that one. I am mostly in all Purpose/Standard Height/Stiff/High Regen and changing suspension mode to soft does not seem to make a difference.

I have an open ticket with service for early January to address minor things, but I am curious to see if others have experienced something similar? This is happening even on mostly smooth roads.

Based on what I have observed it’s because there is no padding between plastic and metal and in rough patches both hit each other and make noise. You can try to ask someone to push that plastic piece little;noise should stop…I don’t know if Rivian will be able to do anything but you should certainly log an issue.

@Nikhiluor Thanks for your response. I'm definitely logging it.

For clarification, which specific piece(s) of plastic vs. metal are you referring to?

I've had this issue in both my S and T and both times they've fixed the noise at the Service Center. No return of noise since.

@CalebSchiff

That's good to hear (bad pun intended). Do you have any additional details from your invoice (ie part number etc?). Considering the lead time to get an appointment at my service center, the more details, the better to "expedite" things...I hope.

Same issue. Would also appreciate some specifics on where to press test and any clues for the ticket. Thanks!

Same issue here on my 10-day old R1S. Would love guidance on what to put in the service request as well.

I'd get it checked or at least log it. Mine made what sounds like a similar noise, a loud clicking then almost a knocking and a day later I have the "service suspension" error message and it's undrivable until my service appointment a month out.

I also have the same issue where I can hear rattling noise from the A pillar, dash and rear when driving on bad roads (washboard) or unpaved roads. I had a mobile service technician fix the issue in the rear door and I drove down to Portland service center where they did something to the dash, which improved it a bit. I have another appointment scheduled for March (yes), to figure out the rattling noise. For someone not used to Rivian, this gives the impression that they are sitting in a 10+ year old car. I like everything else, but the difficulty in getting service appointments is really bad.

I have a similar issue near the passenger area, on my R1S. SC said they fixed it but I still hear it. I just gave up.

Paging @CalebSchiff and @Nikhiluor :) Would you mind sharing what in your specific case? (part number etc would be great) I am compiling my service center "punch list".

Thanks!

I've also suffered from rattles from (seemingly) all 4 doors on my R1S. A few mobile tech visits helped for awhile, but they returned (or new ones developed). Recently, took the time to have my wife drive the car around while I systematically tried to isolate the rattles. For at least some of these, it appears to be caused by rubbing between the interior door panels and the metal door frame itself. Putting pressure with my hand on various places would pause the rattle. I took this further based on some other forum posts and carefully worked in small pieces of felt at suspect locations. I used a guitar pick and a tiny flathead screwdriver to slot the felt in certain places. Glamorous? No. Functional? After a few weeks, seems the answer is yes! Most of the more annoying rattles seem to be gone. Hope this might help a few others out there trying to quiet down the ride!
