Rivian Garage Behavior

Prepping for R1S delivery soon, and I'm curious how Rivian's handle being parked in an active garage.

What I mean by that, is we have a 3 car attached garage we plan to keep our Rivian in, along with our other car, and all of the accoutrement that comes with two small kids.

Given the activity in our garage (in and out of it 10+ times a day taking out trash, driving the other car, getting toys, etc), what's the best way to eliminate wear on the Rivian?

I don't want it "waking up" every time I walk into the garage with my phone in my pocket, and opening the door handles, etc. That would be a significant number of cycles throughout the lifetime of the car.

What's the best way to set it up so it really only wakes up, when we actually get in the car to drive it? I will park it unlocked in the garage, but is there any settings I can adjust to help with this?

I'm sure I'm not the only one with a similar situation.

Short version: It’s not set up to really be successful in this scenario (which is probably the most common scenario so ?).

Long version: In the car, disable auto lock at home. On phone settings, set Rivian app to only use location while using the app. Force quit the app when you get home. Done. (iPhone)

Disable the auto lock at home. It might still wake up, unless you close the app at home too, but you won't have to worry about lock and unlock cycles.

Having a three car attached garage that you go into 10+ times a day, everyday, for reasons other than accessing your car, with your phone in your pocket, is the “most common scenario”?

To be clear, the proximity lock at home can be annoying when doing something like yard work but if it bothers you just turn it off. But I don’t think it’s the most common scenario that someone goes into their garage 10+ times a day for random reasons. If that’s you, then a phone proximity key isn’t for you.

I’m in and out of my garage 10 times a day but don’t lock vehicles in my garage so that is disabled while home. Beer fridge is in the garage. Plug it in when home and if it wakes who cares. You get to look at your Rivian as you walk by! Going into the garage is a treat IMO. Next to the backyard there is no better places to be while at home!

Maybe not 10x a day but I bet an average person goes 3-5x per day easily. Even so, my garage is close enough to our mud room and shares a wall with our front entryway, and the rivian detects my phone in my pocket from those rooms (and I suspect most suburban houses have a similar situation).

So it’s not just about going in and out of the garage anyway.

I have a large garage that is used for multiple projects, including a project car, so I'm in there all the time. My R1 "wakes up" constantly in my garage.

It isn't so much about lock-unlock cycles. I have proximity locking turned off. It's the 12V waking up, pretty much every time I get near the R1 with my phone. It doesn't matter if the vehicle is locked or not. I know this because my recently installed Thinkware dash cam goes through it's lengthy voice greeting every time I get near the vehicle. Also, when ever I look for a video on the Thinkware app, I have to sift through pages of videos of the inside of my garage door.

I have to remove the Rivian app from memory on my phone to avoid this.

We live on an alley with a four car garage attached to the back of the house. We enter and leave the house through the garage just about always. Opel (R1T) is either in the garage or on the driveway just outside. She gets awakened and turned on at least thirty times a day.

We like it that way. The only problem is that Opal get disappointed when she gets ready and doesn't go anywhere.
