I'm a 61 year old father of a 14 year old and a 15 year old. With all the adventuring I've been doing with them since we bought our Rivian, they keep me young for sure!

I may be an outlier at 31, married, 2 kids and third coming. Given our any 3 row suv running 50k plus rn that’s how I justified it to the wife. Should I have gotten it. Probably not but would find other ways to spend that money. And wanted to treat myself because not gonna be a home owner anytime soon given the market!

I am guessing lower ages go for the R1S and higher the R1T?
I am curious about this, but there are so many factors. I have 3 kids and replaced a Honda Pilot. Millennial. Could have gone for the R1S, but decided on the T because we live in rural Maine and I have to go to the dump every week (I hated putting the cans in the pilot even with the rubber mats in back), and because I cautiously got a Model Y 7-seater when we replaced our Prius V last year and now the Y is the daily family station wagon basically, use it for road trips too (the 3rd row might be “smaller” than others, but let’s face it, they’re all terrible and no adult is “comfortably” sitting in a 3rd row unless they’re part of a choir or field trip), so I’m glad I saved some money versus the EV9/R1S for family mover, and now dad gets to do fun kid hauling, yes, but has his own sweet truck for adventures.

I’m just upset than I bought my R1T while in one age demographic, and this question was asked after I ‘transcended’ into the next age demographic bracket. Ugh… lol

Don’t make it too much fun for them, you need to get them kicked out sooner than later so you can enjoy retirement.

2025 Rivian R1T - Large. Delivered on November 23, 2024.
Occupation
Retired
I'm in my early 60s's, retired. Spent the past few years getting our home to carbon neutral with the addition of a solar rig for supplemental power and emergency backup. The last part of this plan is to replace both of our vehicles with EV's. My pickup is relatively new and will offer the most equity. We DO need a truck for house stuff. Test drove an R1T in late September and fell in love with it. We're reserved our R1T-Large 4 weeks ago, and the pickup and cash will be the offset for a lease option. We'll tend to the older car when my husband retires in a few years.

R1T and Model Y (previously a 3 and X)

Also have the Model Y (7 seat) and R1T combo. Third row is great for kiddos if needed. Perfect road trip vehicle and R1T perfect for towing and shorter trips. Not that it can't road trip, but a lot less time and effort in the Y.

We are in our early 50’s with no kids. Our cocker spaniel rides in a Gunner kennel. This does not fit well in the back seat of the R1T, so we went with the R1S. With all the seats down, it becomes extremely versatile for hauling or camping. I have never seen a “young” person driving a RIVIAN, whereas I have seen many young people driving Cybertrucks.

I’m guessing a decent amount of ownership correlates to income/net worth and lifestyle (kids, outdoors, etc). Speaking from my personal experience with fellow R1S owners the formula is “2+”: 2+ cars, 2+ kids living at home, 2+ dogs, $2+M net worth. Wonder if that formula holds true for the R1T ( I don’t see very many day to day) or outside of TX - and I’m curious (though doubtful I’ll ever find out) how that compares to Rivians internal analytics on owner demos.
