Just picked up an R1T from the online shop. VIN 022XXX

I'm guessing this VIN is a couple months old? Maybe a March 2023 build? I asked my guide to confirm.

This is likely an Apr build.
Well, that is great then. I think many who pick from the R1 shop are concerned they are getting some reject from several months ago.

Most are going to be recently built cars. Rivian is building these cars at a good rate now. Slippage (eg people canceling, changing, delaying orders) should now be a predictable % of builds. Which is why I think the Shop will have a good rotation of inventory while staying at around ~100 vehicles.

I just got a R1S from the shop, and the VIN is 0431X . . . seems old. Should I be concerned? Am I getting a vehicle without improvements (and what would those be) or a reject? Thanks all.

Was it a Launch Edition? Is anything else special about it? For reference, I nabbed one off the store yesterday (7/5) and the VIN was *0149##.

Between first mile this weekend, to deposit same day. Saw I had shop access this morning and this afternoon quite a few R1T's popped up. Found the exact spec I wanted and confirmed, VIN in 23,xxx range.

I don't even have a guide assigned yet...

R1S Launch Edition
My R1S reservation went from pending to an assigned date of Dec/Jan. Got super excited. Logged in and saw they had pre-config options that I could get in 6 weeks. Took a look and the pre-config models also honored the early reservation price. They didn't have my top color but I found a green one and went forward to book it on Monday. Just got assigned a VIN 208**
Looks like volume for R1S is ramping nicely. What surprised me was this is indeed a 2023 MY but it is still a "launch edition"
Hope to take delivery by end of Sept. Will have to figure out something about my trade as their offer for my 2022 Tesla Model S was really low. Will try Carmax and Carvana and just go with highest one.
Also, I'm in Raleigh, NC and will have to work with their Richmond, VA store/service location. Never needed service for my Tesla so hope it's the same with Rivian.

I picked one from the R1 Store, and got match with a VIN 0198**.

Seeing this thread now, I learn that Rivian got way past the 20K VIN mark several months ago.

I'm scheduled for delivery next week. Anything I should be concerned about?

No, I wouldn't worry with a vin in the 19k range.

R1T right?
Check window seals. They seem to have improved them with newer ones according to the guy who did my tint (much more difficult with my tighter window seals vs an earlier Rivian he did).

Also check door seals. Mine still makes too much wind noise at 55+.

Check if you have the frunk 12v and under dash 12v. Wonder if yours will still have one or both.

Check for panel gaps. Frunk seals especially seems to be almost always off left to right looking at it from the front. Nearly every Rivian I looked at when I picked up at service center was not balanced. Some much worse than others.

Listen for squeaks and rattles. Mine has some, along with several other "minor" issues though I'm 25000 vin. I am awaiting service appointment..

Lol

This is why people need to use the signature..

Anyway if it's an S it is likely very new.
