How do you think the Scout Terra (extended range e+gas) will do compared to the R1? Very similar looks, Scout is more Retro and has the gas generator option. Volkswagen owed and thus a significant technology influence from Rivian.

I echo everyone else in the thought that Scout probably isn't going to happen.
I don’t necessarily disagree but the factory is being built (slowly).

If* they come to market, I’m only interested in the BEV version and how it compares to whatever Gen of Rivian at that time and whether VW dealers will be service centers.

Don’t think Scout will actually make it to market.
Why would you say that? Some believe the extended range vehicles will be more desirable in America than regular EVs? Ram has the Ram Rev coming out this year (700 miles!)

If Ford ends up actually making an EV Bronco, the Scout is toast.
But Ford sucks these days. Failure after failure. I wouldn't trust them with another EV after the Lightening failures?

At least not at the low price their are advertising.

Not to mention they can only tow like 2000lbs which is not nearly enough for most of us that do tow.
Most people don't tow with EVs, but at least with a gas option you wouldn't get stuck in the middle of no where or unable to finish a trip because no chargers?

Because the REV was an afterthought and quickly added in a few months prior to the reveal.

VW can easily repurpose an as yet incomplete factory for other vehicles.

My wife is getting the R2 and I'm replacing my Bronco with the EV Terra if it comes out.

If I was looking for an EREV I would put my bet on the Ford being best of the bunch though I expect GM may step into the EREV fracas as well with a Colorado and/or silverado derivative. BYD is eating their lunch with the Shark. They need to act.

The Ram Rev looks like a really amazing truck, coming out later this year. Like the Scout (they have both a sole EV and EV plus gas generator), and Ford has sucked since the Great Recession. The stock price has been stuck between $12-14 for like 20 years because they suck so much.

The number of people who need to tow long distances is small, likely < 25% of truck buyers.

Some other sources quote a smaller number, as low as 10%.

Evs aren't "real" trucks and EVs that may pass for "real" trucks are expensive for now.

On paper RAM EREV looks very capable, but personally I am skeptical given that every EV Stellantis has delivered to the US market have been years late and complete garbage (Charger, Recon, 500e, or pure vaporware - ahem Circuit EV). If they do manage to get it out, I expect like every other Stellantis EV it will be too expensive and sell terribly, get big discounts and then get discontinued. But maybe not. With Marchionne and Tavares both gone, they may finally have a change of heart.
