Nobody? I don't think you truly believe that.

Right wing politics have been bashing EVs for years. This isn't debatable. Your anecdotal evidence is exactly that.
Your belief isn't reality. I love EVs and I am 100% engaged with "right wing" politics. You just keep believing what other people tell you.

Same. As are 90% of my coworkers who are actively shopping EVs or already own them.

To recap, you claimed that Trump's rhetoric and policies haven't turned a single person off from EVs because your Trump-voting friends told you so. Then, you said you are 100% engaged in right wing politics and love EVs, so surely everyone must feel the same as you. Then, you tell us to not believe what people tell you. You're right, I can't argue with that logic.

I see contradictory examples on other automotive forums every day. Feel free to check out the comment section of every EV-related post on GM Authority as evidence.

I think it's fair and accurate to say that a much higher percentage of people who lean left own EVs compared to people who lean right.

Pew research center survey results.

I am not disagreeing with that survey, I am disagreeing with the cause. The cause is not a politician who says all kinds of things that I often agree with, and sometimes disagree with.

Most of my friends voted for Trump and none of them have opinions they formed because Trump told them something they should believe. They are all independent thinking people.

And they are not EV hating people. They just are skeptical, as they should be, because EVs are not going to change the weather. And EVs have serious limitations, as we all know. As I know from personal experience.

I didn't bring up politics, but I could not let a false statement stand without a response. I hope we can just agree to disagree and get back to talking about Rivian. I am an owner and an investor. Which has nothing to do with politics.

Thanks for everyone who participated sharing their faults. I didn't mean to set off a political storm. But I'm happy to hear that conservatives are into EVs too, gotta keep the momentum going!

Why does everything need to be made political and the focus swing to things that divide us rather than unite us? This is a Rivian forum and I believe most of us are here because we are enthusiast who love the brand and the vehicles. I would like to think we all want the company to be successful.

Add me to the list of conservative members who own an EV and believe climate change is a reality that we need to face head on. I didn't buy an EV to change the world. I bought an EV because I believe the technology is heading in a better direction than ICE and we have to start somewhere. I also wanted to see if I could live with an EV for my daily life. As it turns out, it was the best alternative for my needs and budget. So it was a good choice for me and my family. However, regardless of your politics, EVs do not fit everyone's needs. There needs to be more choice across the board. It is obvious that the path is not easy and Rivian and many others continue to face significant challenges with bringing products to market.

I applaud everyone for sharing some political insight, but humankind has a long way to go. Passenger cars only account for about 10% of global greenhouse emissions, whereas the broader category of transportation (shipping, aviation, freight and passenger cars, etc..) contributes to about 25% of global greenhouse emissions. Sure passengers cars are a big chunk, but there are much bigger issues affecting our weather and it will take more than a few consumer EVs to make a difference. I think even the most aggressive scenarios with 50-80% of new sales being EVs by 2035 only bend global emissions modestly.

We need to stop finding ways to fight over petty issues that divide us and focus on finding ways to work together. We have a lot of work to do to save this big blue marble we have the privilege of living on.

Yes BUT I just thanked everyone for participating and apologized how this thread seemed to get out of control so please no more politics incl mentioning how there are not supposed to be politics on a vehicle enthusiast board! : ).

So please only comment on Rivian vs Scott (vs Ram Rev).

My eyes have been wandering to the Hummer. It's just too ridiculous. I would be embarrassed driving one.
I have two buddies with one. Total muscle car guys who wouldn't have otherwise gotten an EV. Great range. The T-Tops are the best part!

There's worse looking things (like CT and that BYD posted earlier)

what's next on the list?
I'll probably get a Tesla while I'm waiting for either the Ram Rev or Scout, primarily because they actually work better than other Evs but also because I need a good dog mode like Tesla and Rivian has. Basically I'll just view the Tesla as working transportation.
