Sadly it seems to be part of the American dream —work hard, create something great, get married, have kids, work very hard, get divorced, move on … plenty of examples.

yeah ... but isn't curious how the second wife is usually younger, more attractive and contains at least 25% silicon, once they make it big time?

Wow, I never knew how weak RJ's position actually was at Rivian. Didn't even know about his imminent divorce. Ugh. Kids too.

People here have been speculating about him being separated/divorced for over a year now because we no longer saw the wife and kids at big Rivian events.

He kind of seems like a workaholic (like many engineers), when he comes home from work, the last thing the wife wants is him jumping back on the computer to do some more work.

Anyway, at least he won't be a deadbeat dad... if anyone can afford child support it's RJ.

Hey, maybe he can find himself a nice 24yo like Bill Belichick did..

Gone through a divorce, albeit 23 years ago), it is tough. My children at the time were 11, 9 and 7. Did they get over the shock of the divorce?.......yes, but the lasting effects hung on until they got older and were able to deal with it as adults.

I walked beside them the whole time and I raised them as their mom was a non-involved parent.

I just hope RJ and his ex can be amicable and co-parent effetively. I bet his kids don't care or realize who his dad is and what he does for a living, they just want him home to play and talk and watch movies and have go on vacation.

It's none of our business, but the very least we can gleam from the divorce is how much time and work it takes to start and run a car company... while many on this site seem to think they can do it in their sleep (the kind of hubris we'd expect from an infamous CEO).

It's none of our business, but the very least we can gleam from the divorce is how much time and work it takes to start and run a car company... while many on this site seem to think they can do it in their sleep (the kind of hubris we'd expect from an infamous CEO).

It's possibly one of those "it's me or the company" situations and he chose Rivian. Not that I know a lot about TB12 and his divorce from Giselle, but she said she was tired of being a "single parent" when he was still playing since the season consumed so much of his time.

In my experience, RJ isn't a great listener..... Maybe the divorce had something to do with us getting Google maps lol....I kid but not really

From my experience, most men aren't great listens. "Hey dad, there's a hole there." 10 seconds later. "Crap, hey daughter, there's a hole there." Repeat for most of my life and add my brothers too.

I love my family, but they're not listening drives me up a wall. But seeing that RJ is kind of everywhere, I can imagine he is almost always working and that can be hard on a couple.

This is sad and unfortunate. But happens when you are devoted to work and traveling a lot.

This. My feeling is that the extraordinary commitment to standing up and running Rivian has taken a toll on RJ's family as it does on many founders. Obviously we don't know the reasons behind the breakup but I'd be shocked if the time and commitment to Rivian didn't have a part in it.

Hoping for the best for everyone. A divorce can be especially hard for young children.

There are women who aren't great listeners too. I've worked with lots of women who call or make meetings to ask questions only to do all the talking before anyone could complete a sentence. Some men are just as bad.

That's sad considering she and their kids were visible for many big moments and milestones.

I suspect this is one of the things they disagreed on. Lots of people are extremely uncomfortable about displaying your young kids front and center.
