Hi, I have an 84” long, 175 lb NatureNest rooftop tent (RTT) I’m considering mounting on the OEM Cargo Crossbars (I don’t have them yet.) Each of the 4 mounting points for this RTT consist of two (2) bolts that hang down from a C-channel that fasten through a 0.75” x 4.5” flat metal plate that runs underneath the slat of the rack. As I understand, the RIVIAN cargo crossbars are curved not flat. I would be concerned about damage to the cross bars or not a secure enough fit. Has anyone used the cargo Crossbars with a similar type of RTT?

That is a standard RTT method of attachment. My RTT had the same setup, but the bracket (plate) that secures it to the OEM crossbars had a curve and a rubber sleeve to help get a more conforming fit.

I still did not like the look, feel or security of the setup, so I got some machined mounts from Wheel Every Weekend.

They are pricey, but an absolutely perfect fit to the OEM crossbars. If you worry about the 1-inch channel resting directly on top of the crossbars, put a thin sheet of rubber or plastic between them before securing with the mounts.

Here's the link to the WEW security mounts. Unfortunately, it looks like they are sold out right now, but you could always message them and see when the next batch is available. They are an awesome group of folks.

They look similar to this but there isn't a photo of the Rivian mounts on their website yet.

My CVT tent mounts the exact same way, with a flat bar on bottom. It's been on my crossbars for well over a year, no problems.

Thank you for this. It looks VERY good, by the way. I won’t have time to order before this upcoming trip (Sunday), but will definitely buy them for the future. For now, i will wrap my cross bars with a couple layers of this black foam rubber piper insulation I bought from Home Depot. Not very attractive, I know.
