My truck is in the Denver service center for the popping/clicking sound when turning slowly in a parking lot. It previously had the washers installed but the clicking is worse. The service center said they’re not seeing any issues but they did say they typically replace the subframe in this situation. Has anyone had the subframe replacement fix the clicking issues in the front suspension? Is it worth the invasive work?
Heading in for a potential subframe replacement myself. Would be curious if you or anyone has an answer to whether it was worth it or not.

It’s been about year since I had the repair done and have had zero issues. The popping went away after the replacement - the suspension still has the clunking sound when driving over imperfections but it’s pretty minor. I was apprehensive about having the subframe replaced given that it seemed invasive, but I think it was the right choice since the original welded subframes can develop cracks.

Heading in for a potential subframe replacement myself. Would be curious if you or anyone has an answer to whether it was worth it or not.
Whether it was worth it? I don't understand.

My Gen 1 had the old welded front subframe, one of the welds had failed and I would get a metal popping/twang on full lock, low speed maneuvers. They replaced it with a Gen 2 retrofit (not Gen 1 cast version, although I would assume it just includes additional motor mounting points) and the vehicle has come away feeling a bit more planted, and was better as a result of the repair/replacement.

If they're going in there anyway, have them swap your jounce lines for the updated components, there's a customer satisfaction campaign to address it on early Gen 1 vehicles and it really does make a world of difference and eliminates the hydraulic swishing noise on suspension compression.

Worth it. I had same as below, thought it was a motor or something else, they found a crack.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I’ll make sure to ask about the jounce lines. “Worth it” is maybe an odd way to phrase it but was just concerned about doing invasive surgery on the truck and being without a truck for who knows how long to address something that may not be an issue or might not address the sound/feel of the suspension. Sounds like I shouldn’t worry and just let them do the work.

Thank you. I was feeling the same way but based on others experience here it sounds like it’s the right thing to do.
