Hi -

Has anyone else gotten the "service suspension soon" notice on their dashboard? It happened to us a month or so ago. We brought it to a service center, they took several days to fix it, then said just as they were driving it back to deliver it it reappeared. Fixed it. Several months went by, we just brought ours to a different service center for a windshield repair, tire rotation and multi point inspection. All checked out OK, we got it back and that same note popped up again. Is this a common issue?

Thanks Chris

I have seen this before on other vehicles. What does the service invoice say they did to fix it the first time?

It says "Module, Vehicle Dynamics (Remove and Replace)" but that doesn't offer me much insight. It's riding fine currently, just with that message on the dashboard. Last time the message showed the car felt like it had hydraulics bouncing all over the place.

It didn't show up again since I've posted this and riding fine, so a hard reset will be the next step if it shows again. Thanks

I would be surprised if this resolves itself. You've noted it's happened multiple times, and service has already attempted two separate fixes without resolving it permanently. I doubt a hard reset will do much, other than maybe prolong the next time the issue pops up.

I'm assuming there's some sort of fault in the connections between your suspension and the module, possibly corrosion or a bad/loose connector. This is all speculation, so definitely contact the service folks and tell them the last time you brought it in they replaced the vehicle dynamics module but you're still hitting this issue. Hopefully they take a fine tooth comb to every connector and wire from each wheel to the module.

In earlier version of the Firmware I've seen it pop up, but I haven't seen it in a long time

Like 12k miles of time.

Generally if an error message goes away quickly then I ignore it.

I am currently dealing with a similar issue. I got a "service suspension soon" and turtle mode message a week ago. That came with reduced performance (max 51 MPH) and no change in ride height or drive mode. Service had me do a full reset and the errors went away. An hour later went to run errands and the errors were back. Took it to SC next morning and they still do not have a diagnosis. They have been unable to replicate the problem and said it may take a few more weeks. My R1S is just over 1 month old with 3K miles.

I received the same “service suspension system soon” message a few days ago and wasn’t able to change drive modes or my suspension settings. I did a system restart, but it didn’t work. So, I spoke with support and they recommended a “sleep restart”, which occurs after making the truck go to sleep by removing any key cards, key fob, and closing the app on your phone. Make sure you keep any of the keys far enough away from the truck so that they won’t wake it from sleep mode. Then wait about 45 minutes or so and go back to the vehicle and perform a restart. I follow the instructions, exactly as advised, but it still didn’t fix the issue.

After speaking with support again, they suggested I do an “extended sleep restart”. It was the same process as before, but the advisor suggested that I let the truck sleep for several hours before performing the restart. So, I plugged it in and let it charge overnight in sleep mode , then came out in the morning and performed the restart. The “service suspension system soon” warning went away and hasn’t been back since. Everything is operating as it should. I don’t know if there was ever an issue, or if the restart was the fix, but so far, so good.

Never mind, the sleep restart didn’t fix the issue. I’m now consistently getting the service suspension system soon notification.

Any of you have any updates on the above as I had the same thing happen this evening as in Post #09 above. I made it to my event and was away from the truck for a couple of hours and it seamed to have cleared but have my doubts now after reading the above.

I've been dealing with it for a few months, it only appears on wet driving days, hitting a puddle, or going through a car wash... So it's clearly a connector to one of the 12 sensors.

I checked all 12 suspension sensor connectors by unplugging and replugging, only one caused it to go away so I found the culprit. I told service this and they refuse to do mobile service, insist I take it into the shop, so I have to wait all summer for a September appointment in Bellevue. Yuck.

A little follow up on this as it happened twice today and I captured diagnostics on it both times, the only problem is that it can only be reviewed by Rivian Service, according to Rivian call center. I've been pushing them as I'm a week into a 4 week trip from SoCal to WA and i'm trying to determine if this is a problem I should worry about.
Rivian call center is telling me that it's a pain to keep doing the hard resets and I should send it in for service and it has to go to the service center closest to my home (Costa Mesa) via a flatbed and I'm in Tahoe at the moment at a potential cost to me of $4500 if they determine this is my fault. Since I initially told them I hit a pothole I feel they will say this is my fault. That really doesn't seem like the best option and I really wish there was a way to do a little more trouble shooting.

Is there a reference diagram showing where all of these connectors are located?
