I got mine in Oct 22. I've got 16,500 miles on it. The AC is annoying but isn't all the time. I finally opened a ticket for them to look at it next month. The only other annoyance I've had is the express up/down on the windows doesn't work. I've had it in twice to address it but nothing has worked yet. Super minor. Overall I'm super happy. I'd have SC fix the issues and enjoy your new ride. I'm still enjoying mine!

There are some members on the facebook group have the same virbrating AC issue like yours and it was fixed by the service center. All the other stuff you mentioned can be fix in one visit. If you want to get in sooner with the AC issue, just tell them it is too hot for your kids and they will upgraded it to emergency status.
My vote is to keep it if you able to stand the annoying AC issue til they fix it.

Not sure what OP ultimately decided, but I am curious what are the consequences of returning within the 7 days/1K period. I can't imagine Rivian would refund the registration/doc fees. What about taxes? Freight cost? As I am nearing my own delivery, I want to know what options I would have if I get unlucky.

For those people who always come on here saying "It's not a cheap vehicle". Yes it is a cheap vehicle. It's very cheap for the performance you get. You can get something that costs much less money overall, but it's also going to have much less in the way of features and performance. So Rivian is already a great value it isn't just expensive for expensive sake.

They refund the entire purchase price including taxes and fees. It's like the sale never happened. They don't do the registration until the 7 days are up so that fee doesn't get incurred until then. Same with freight, the next person who actually buys your vehicle will pay that fee. With that said if you have pre increase pricing that will also be gone. Rivian has made it clear that does not apply to returned vehicles.

It’s an “adventure “ vehicle, so you’d better be up for the adventure. I’ve owned over 30 vehicles including 4 EV’s and in a few months, this has been by far the most “adventurous” ever. I absolutely love the vehicle, but since it’s been in the shop for 7 out of 42 weeks of ownership, I’m not loving the adventure quite as much..

Need a little advice… Received my Rivian RS1 last week, but have had multiple issues since receiving it. I’m still within the return window and am strongly considering returning it (though it pains me!). Want to know how other RS1’s have held up for those that have had it longer, as my concern is that this will continue to happen or get worse. For a car that cost $100k it’s alarming that I’m having so many issues at the start AND they are saying their earliest appointment is DECEMBER 14th, which is insane to me.

Here are my problems so far:

- Main issue: Car is loud when AC runs and makes the petals vibrate. I have another electric car and understand that the AC can be loud in electric vehicles, however, this is so loud it causes the hood and my pedals to vibrate while driving.

- Rear seat handle for reclining the seat came off first try. Was not screwed in or is missing a screw. Poor assembly.

- Rear window lining is off. Seems like poor assembly.

- Rear headrest is broken. Tried to adjust it and the bottom base where it connects came off showing the inside or the seat cushion.

- Bluetooth needs to reconnect via my phone settings every time I get in the car. Is this normal? I feel like it should automatically connect.

- The latest this morning is that the front window wiper fluid won’t spray. The back spray does work, so I know it has fluid, but the front does not.

TBH it pains me to write all of this, because I was very excited about the car, but with so many problems, after only four days, makes me very concerned about how the car will hold up in the long run. Any advice and thoughts would be helpful. Thank you!
I WOULD GIVE THEM 24 HRS TO CORRECT IT ALL OR RETURN THE CAR. THEY ARE FIRM ON THEIR 7 DAY RETURN POLICY.

Thanks. How about rejecting delivery? Would that result in losing pre-March pricing? I don't want to take something that's unacceptable even though it may be fixable. While I am not looking for perfection, certain things may never look right if not built correctly at first.

I got hung up on the part where you said your petals vibrate. I was trying to picture a flower with vibrating petals. Flowers have petals, cars have pedals. The A/C has a feature where it turns the fans up full blast if the interior is hot. It's trying to cool it off as quickly as possible. It's very loud. After a few minutes, the fan speed goes down. Could that be what you're hearing? I agree with others that your problems can be fixed. I've found that the kind of people who buy $100,000 cars can be very nit-picky.

I general, it seems like the R1S is not as well engineered as the R1T. I don't think they got all the kinks out yet. My R1T is so comfortable and quiet it's heavenly. But the R1S has some handling and noise problems. I think I would go with the R1T instead of the R1S.

All-in-all I see no mention in this forum that a R1S/T will not start, stop, or have EV platform issues.

I don't mind the early adopter scenario as long as I get safely from point A to point B.

I have not seen one forum complaint with the words "my R1S/T bricked today." I did see one issue with a frunk hood that would not close because of misaligned plastic. Not sure if it could be resolved by closing manually, but the OP just said he got in his other car and when we can home the hood shut.

Good luck and best wishes.

All due respect, but if you haven't seen those posts it's not because they don't exist. They are infrequent, but there are about a dozen or so that I have seen.

Ive had virutally no problems with my S. I think the handling got better as it broke in and the latest update made it even better. Once we get on the Tesla Chargers network my only complaints are R1 specific related to GPS/maps/UI

Wow, this is helping me decide less and less that the Rivian is a good EV platform.

I can deal with Fit and Finish but bricking is not in the category of "good EV."

LOL

(All kidding aside. Rivian is a good EV platform, but some people need to argue everything. It's easy to 'ignore' the pessimists. If you are a pessimist, please feel free to ignore me.)

Then obviously you want to return the S. Do so. With "all due respect" don't ask for decision assistance if you only wish to confirm your complaints; just return the S.
I think you are talking to someone else. I have a T which I love. I have never advised anyone to return any Rivian, nor have I asked anyone else's opinion on returning one. Just pointing out that it isn't all lollipops and puppy kisses for everyone.

I'm not a pessimist, but a realist. My R1T is hands down the best vehicle I have ever owned. I have personally convinced dozens of others to buy and invest in Rivian. I emphatically recommend them to anyone who will listen. But I'm not blind to the fact that these vehicles are capable of fault.
