After the Elon/CT fiasco I was leaning towards the Silverado RST and was going to wait until 2025 for the off-road version. Didn't drive any of them and decided it's just too big. Coming from a Gladiator the R1T seemed like it would give me a similar truck but way better.

My tonneau cover replacement took a day and a half. Sparks NV SC. Must be mostly due to suspension issues.
They told me at drop off they were backed up so it would take at least 2 weeks before they officially got it into service queue. but since it took 4 month for the appointment they have a few things besides the Tonneau cover to look at. This is at South San Francisco SC.

It seems they could have you bring it in later and still stay in the Q. If it’s not good to drive I could see coming in early and provide a loaner.

That was my thought as well. Seems just how they do it.. Same thing last year when they had to replace my half shafts... that time they said 2 weeks and it was 8 days..

But on topic, i'm enjoying the chance to try another EV truck, even if it is the stripped down model.

I had one for a day when my R1T was in the shop. It had about 2500 miles on it and managed to throw a "critical battery error, service immediately." I then took it back to Enterprise and made that issue their problem to deal with.

Got it. Can you ask why another brand is used as a loaner when you pick up your T? Is it a simple as not having enough Rivians?

We have been seriously looking at the Silverado EV as an adjunct to our beloved R1T. The Silverado EV would replace our 2020 Silverado 2500 Duramax. We travel regularly with our 7,400# Airstream travel trailer. Our long trips usually last sixty to ninety days and cover large sections of the country. Opal (our R1T) pulls the Airstream just fine, but the range is not very good at 125 to 150 miles between charges. Our extensive research indicates that we could could get a 200+ mile range from the Silverado EV. This would much better facilitate our RV travel and camping style.

On our long Airstream adventures we carry a lot of stuff. Our Duramax has an aluminum bed topper with a built-in tool box. We also carry a 3,000 watt Honda Generator, hiking and camping gear, canoe and kayak gear, spare parts, and back-up food stuffs. Opal is a bit shy on carrying space for all our junk. This is the main reason that we are considering a Silverado EV. We are coming to the point of trading our Duramax for a new one. We have found it beneficial to trade at the the five or six year point. We will have had this Duramax for five years in March of 2025. This is why we are considering going to the EV at this point. Even if the Federal Income Tax EV rebate goes away, It will most likely take a year or so. 2025 may be the year to get this switchover accomplished with the most benefit.

The Silverado EV Work Truck and RST are not exactly what we want. The LT which has just been released may fill the bill, but we are waiting for the release of the Trail Boss in 2025 to see if that would be more to our liking.

that is what they told me when i asked. they have 10 loaners and all were out. So they sent me to Enterprise for EV or Premium gas rental.

Hertz is currently unloading a ton of 2024 Silverado EV WT trims, most in the 20-50k mile range for around $55k.

Thanks. I wasn’t thinking rentals. Sounds like the SC is taking good care of you.

We test drove the RST and it seems quite a bit nicer than the LT trim. They now have an LT premium trim too in 2025 thats in between. To be honest, I'd probably get the Chevy at this point, just because its a better truck for truck things than the R1T. We have an R1S, but the R1T bed, cargo space, cargo capacity, etc make it a worse work vehicle for our business. Still a great lifestyle vehicle if you don't actually do truck things like construction

Good call. With my T I realized early on I wasn’t going to put anything work or landscape related in the bed. So I bought a small trailer. Then I realized if you have a trailer you don’t need a T so I traded it in for an S. I can see that the T wouldn't be a good work truck. It’s just too pretty anyway.
