Steering wheel shake intermittent

I took it at the recommendation of the rivian service center (against my better judgement) since the SC is 200+ miles away. Rivian assured me that they had the tools and training to do it right. They didn’t.

Like anywhere else, it’s a crap shoot. Vary by competence of each location and staff.

Michelins are available now

I’m gonna swap the Pirellis for these next month. Fingers crossed it makes a dramatic difference. I’ve given up on the Pirellis and just assume they ride rough. It’s far too common among R1s, esp with 22s. I’m just trying to decide which load rating to go with.

I swore off Discount Tire years ago. They did an alignment and tore the dust boots on the steering rack. While changing the boots, they let the brake calipers hang from the brake lines...a big no no. They cross threaded two lug nuts. Then it was a big fight to get them to fix the damage they caused. They might have the equipment, but they don't care, so you get lousy service.

I used to go to a frame shop that had the equipment to balance the tires while mounted on the vehicle; this takes into account things like brake rotors, lug nuts and other spinning unsprung weight.

My issue was fixed by replacing 3 of 4 AT tires. Apparently they failed Rivian road force balance. I’ve no issues since. Something with the internal foam failing.

You should be fine with the 115H. Will have to increase the tire pressure to 55 or so psi to get the appropriate load rating. The Michelins are much smoother and quieter than the Pirellis.

Yeah if you get them road force balance and make sure the road force numbers aren't above 10lbs in the front. Need a good tech to make sure that. These Rivian are very sensitive to road feel etc and in addition to replacing the tires and balance, proper alignment and maybe a replacement steering rack that some people are doing to make it stiffer and less vibration.
