I have only been able to get a Mercedes loaner in NYC once, and that was because I had a 2-month repair to replace the dual-clutch under warranty, but they would only offer me a ride to my job every other time. Volvo has never offered me a loaner even after asking 2 months in advance, only a ride home. Rivian SC in Brooklyn got me Uber credits and an upgraded rental for 2 weeks my truck was in service. You must have a really good or not busy BMW dealer near you.Actually, I'm disappointed in Rivian service. My other experiences are far better than with Rivian. BMW got me in promptly. Had a BMW loaner for me and got my car back in a prompt manner. Rivian is nothing like that so far.
Honestly it isn't really Rivian it's the size of the tires. I have had issues with balance on these tires both from Rivian and Discount Tire and had them rebalanced from a local shop that also didn't fix it.Unfortunately, rivian sucks at balancing tires.
Soooo, just went on a 1000 mile round trip - road trip with lots of 75 mph + roads. I would say road force balancing didn't fix anything and I was caught up in being optimistic. Will probably try the service center again...Got my tires road force balanced by Discount Tire. They said two of the tires were out of balance by a noticeable amount and they were able to bring down the road force quite a bit as well. $100 all in.
The tech that worked on my truck said they had quite a few Rivians in for this "problem". Probably a combination of bad balancing from the factory, poor follow-up by the service center, and Pirelli's aren't always perfect from factory.
Did say they couldn't get the road force down to a # they would consider great (I have 11000 miles on my tires) but did get it to what they would consider good. The worst of the shaking has largely been fixed, and what's left is what I would consider road feel (the steering feel does seem to be tuned pretty sensitively on these trucks).
Anyways hope that helps.
This is good to know and why I always had stuck with Lexus and Acura. I was given a loaner everytime my vehicles were in for service. Even for relatively small stuff like routine maintenance one day stuff. Even the Jeep and Ford dealers give me loaners. Maybe service is just better in the midwest. Not sure....I have only been able to get a Mercedes loaner in NYC once, and that was because I had a 2-month repair to replace the dual-clutch under warranty, but they would only offer me a ride to my job every other time. My previous new Volvo had a really bad tire balance when I bought it. Took weeks for the dealer to fix it and they acted like they did me a favor by not charging me for the tire balance.
