I was looking to sign up for the Supercharger membership thinking I would save some money on our upcoming trip across the country. I am not sure if this is new language but it says you are limited to using a supercharge 5 times a day.

Probably not an issue but something to be aware of if one wants to use Superchargers exclusively on a LONG day trip.

i think thatā€™s right, although i donā€™t think the issue is so much rideshare people as someone like a rental car company that needs to charge a bunch of different vehicles, since the subscription is per-account, not per-vehicle

While we don't like doing it, this is why you read the terms of service before agreeing to a contract. Clicking on that takes you to https://www.tesla.com/legal/terms

Tesla offers an optional Supercharger membership that allows non-Tesla vehicles to charge at lower pay per use billing rates than would otherwise apply. A separate membership is needed for each Tesla Account, and each membership is limited to a maximum of five Supercharger charge sessions per day.
While I assumed it was as described above (for a specific charging site), the legal terms say it's for 5 individual charging sessions. Learn something new every day. That was a good catch. This policy would change my charging behavior if I was using a non-Tesla vehicle on the Supercharger network.

Edit: I will say that this is sort of sneaky to put that in the legal terms in this day and age of click-through agreements that everyone is so tired of reading and just blindly accepts. This is the first mention I've seen of this daily limit on charging sessions. I tend to do 100-150 miles between splash and go charging sessions in the Model 3.

That is more restrictive but realistically I donā€™t think I have ever charged five times in a single day so I would sign up if I were looking to use the SC Network.

What it does prevent is widespread sharing a single Tesla account. We have three non-Tesla EVs in the household and would share a single account. But it is unclear if the total number of sessions are limited or just the number of discounted sessions are limited.

Sounds like someone needs to test this since there is no one at Tesla that will respond to questions.

Sort of a weird policy. Do any gas station chains limit the number of fill ups you can do?

If people wait in line, why canā€™t they charge? Iā€™m no fan of Uber, but Iā€™d rather have Uber EVs that can charge as needed instead of ice vehicles spewing air pollution.

Well technically, fill volume for a customer is limited to the supply of fuel at that station or less in emergencies and remote locations.
We had to use ration cards for fuel on US bases in the UK back in the day

I charged up in the morning in Ft. Worth at a Tesla SC. My next stop was Vernon, TX, then Quanah, TX, and final stop for the day in Amarillo, TX. That's 4 SC's in one day. If something goes wrong at any of the stations and you have to re-initiate a session, you've used up your 5th one. I ran into issues where my sessions were ending after a few minutes or right away. It bumped me up to the higher rate after my 5 allotted sessions per day.
