Yes, I did that exactly. Set the limit to 70% and removed the schedule and let the truck handle it.

Remember that the truck will charge the 12V, when charging from L2. So i *should* avoid the vehicle to shutdown due to over-stress in the DC-to-DC circuit for 12V upkeep.

Maybe also might be a good idea to crack the windows open to avoid cabin overheat?
Done and done. Although if I get one more of these disgusting spotted lanternflies in my truck, I'm gonna scream. 😆

I've cracked windows (and actually ran the AC for a bit) and set it to slow charge at 8A right now up to 70%. Not sure I want to drive it anywhere, so I'll just leave it sitting in the garage. Sucks. But we have flat rate electricity - I'd be even less pleased if I were burning through 8kWh a day where peak electricity is expensive.

Maintaining normal charge schedule with windows vented in the garage. From what I understand, the HV battery charges the 12v(s) no matter what. Just making sure the HV doesn’t get too low is why I keep it plugged in
We are on the same page :) BUT small note about 12V charging.

12V will be charged from the HV battery, but even if you're at 99%, your truck might still shutdown when it's constantly charging the 12V, mine bricked at 69% last year.

Here's how I understand based in my investigation and other users' investigation in this forum:
- 12V charging is supplied by the HV battery from a DC-to-DC circuit
- Every time you're L2 charging, this circuit gets activated and your 12V is 'topped off'
- R1 vehicles will monitor this DC-to-DC circuit and if at any moment it gets over-stressed, it will shut everything off to protect itself and the HV battery

You're not giving me warm fuzzy feelings on this...

Sorry bud, trying to be realistic with how everything will unfold for everybody with this issue.
I was desperate Monday morning when this happened to me because I knew what might be the consequences and also I must take a road-trip on Monday (~2000 miles) which has been on the books for a while.

I can't afford monitoring this for a week and see how it resolves itself as you saw already in this thread that 12V will be the next thing in line failing due to 'blinking lights"

Just chiming in here to add that my father’s Gen 1 R1S just started having the same issue on his vehicle. So you can add another one to the list.

How are you able to detect this issue? I know a few people initially detected through motion sensors and cameras in their garage. For someone like me that has none of those in my garage, is there another way to proactively catch this?

LEave your phone and keys aways from your vehicle when is (or supposed to be) sleeping, walk close to it, and watch for 2 or 2 minutes. If it blinks every 10 or so seconds, you have the issue. If you don't see a blink, you don't.

I hear you. Already had to change my plans - fly out tomorrow for about a week. Normally arrive at the airport at 40%. Using 8kWh per day on blinking lights (probably more the waking, I know), means my car will be dead when I return. I’m fortunate I can take our ICE vehicle, but sucks that we’re at a point where manufacturers can hose something up remotely.

Stare at your taillights when you're far enough away that it's locked. Or check idle usage in the energy monitor. I'm seeing 0.22kW phantom drain when it should be sleeping. Oh and if it feels like the seat heaters have been on despite being parked for 8+ hours in the dark

See if your interior temp is getting hot. Mine went up to almost 100° sitting in a 70-ish degree garage. And also just look for sudden vampire drain.

Expected (Sadly).

PSA:
If you're calling in to report blinking lights, IMMEDIATELY mention that it's draining battery and gets dangerously warm (if that's the case, of course) and that you don't want to be liable for the 12v battery(ies) replacement cotst
