No the replacement won't reset the warranty. I know that for a fact (written confirmation from Rivian last year)

That's unfortunate. Do you happen to know what the warranty is on replacements? I'm guessing 12 mos. / 12k miles? I don't think it's legal to sell them with no warranty at all?

As someone said on a totally unrelated topic recently, maybe we should purchase them with a CC that gives purchase protection? #shrug

After calling support, they are trying to contact the San Diego SC to get me in immediately. Still waiting on a call back.

Update - was able to take my truck into the San Diego SC, and instead of immediately replacing the 12v battery, they had me drop it off for diagnosis. Strong suspicion that they may not have enough batteries on hand to swap out.

A few things I noticed:
1. The SC said they had a few other vehicles in with the same issue (didn’t say how many)
2. When driving with a dead 12v battery, the range for the high voltage battery drops significantly faster while driving (almost twice as fast).
3. Actually got a R1T loaner (1st time in 4 service appointments)
4. While driving home, I saw another R1T being flat bedded on the way towards the SC
5. After getting back home, the SC called for more follow up questions. When & where the issues started. Plugged in or not. Parked in garage or not. Seat belts connected or not.

We’ll see how long this takes…fingers crossed

Just to cover my bases, I did mention to the SC that I hoped Rivian had a plan for covering any 12v batteries that expired early because of this little screw up. My battery is only 6 months old. Hopefully, it will be a non-issue.

The way they just explained to me, the replacement is covered under the original 3yr/36k warranty. After that, it’ll cost you to replace.

might be safe to assume that after that period if you PAY for your replacement, that might have some type of warranty... At least that would be my expectation.

In my case, it was replaced under warranty which expired March 2025, so next time should be on me, hence why I'm anal with the 12V and was able to spot this issue within hours of it failing on me

Reporting that my R1T is now sleeping and stopped blinking. No temp warning either. Fingers crossed this is fixed for good and no 12v battery health loss

No, the only thing you'll see is that your vehicle is happy again.
