Ok all.... what is the trick. I took a road trip from KS to AR to drop my husband off for the AR High Country. I decided I was going to almost exclusively charge at the Tesla location and paid the membership. Of course, at the first stop, Rivian takes over the payment even though I was initiating the charge via the Tesla app. To fix the problem going forward, I just disabled my card in the Rivian app, so there was no payment method for it to hit, and the Tesla app finished the handshake, and everything worked fine after that.
But here is my big problem!!! As we were heading down, I was unable to get the adapter off the tesla plug. My husband was able to get it off. So my big problem happened on my way home. I only needed to charge once in Joplin, great station. I plug in, get as much charge as I needed. I decided to leave the adapter plugged into the truck for extra leverage and just tried to remove the telse plug from the adapter. Of course, this didn't work. So I unplug and sit on the curb and hold the adapter with my feet and try to push and pull the tesla plug out. I sat there and worked at for like 5min. Thank goodness this was a busy station and some guy was walking back to his Tesla and was able to help get the adapter off.
I google this and found info that said hold down the tesla button and push the plug into the adapter and then pull out and it should release. I was pushing and pulling with all my might.
So am I just not strong enough to get this adapter off the Tesla plug, or do I need to stop using Tesla chargers unless my husband is with me? What is the deal? Any suggestions? Special tool for more leverage?
