Might be the preemptive 12v replacement? They have been contacting people to do that…

I love it. I ignore all phone calls, but then google the telephone number afterwards to see who it was that was calling. ?

So what did Rivian say when you called them?

I received this message today. To confirm, I called Rivian and the repstated that it is, in fact, an issue. He had no real details except to say something about “knuckles” and affacts all four wheels. Something to do with the suspension? We scheduled a mobil service call to rectify the situation.

Got the same text. Asked the service advisor what was wrong. They said loose knuckles may need to be tightened. Service didn’t have any availability for 2 weeks. I explained I would be out of town for 2-3 weeks after next week. They informed me there was no immediate safety concern and I could drive the vehicle. Hmm. But it might need a tow (per the text message)?

I’m going to be driving another 3K miles before I get this inspected.

I just got the same vague text message for my 2023 R1S (delivered 12/2023). Called them back immediately and the person on the phone seemed to think it was a 12V battery replacement. She didn't go into any other details, so it might be a knuckle thing too.

Luckily, Rivian has just opened two new service centers in Los Angeles area, Burbank and Van Nuys. Now with El Segundo, there are three within a reasonable drive from me! Los Angeles has a lot of Rivians so it's good they're keeping up with the population.

I got an appointment at Van Nuys a week from today, which as we all know is amazingly fast! I'll update on what happened and how it all went at the new service center.

Got a call today from Rivian about a campaign to tighten knucles or something. I thought it was going to be for 12v battery replacement or something. I have a R1S, 9/2023 delivery. Doesn't seem too urgent since I'm not scheduled until the last week of April...but at least it's mobile service.

Definitely legit since the appointment showed up in my app as soon as I hung up.

Mobile Service came today and replaced my battery and torqued the knuckle bolts. There are 4 per wheel, several of them were not torqued to spec. They were not "loose" so it was not a critical safety issue or imminent failure, but certainly they could back out over time so it is good to get the service.
