How are you all keeping your cool? I ordered my R1S on June 6. Not a word since beside the reservation confirmation. Sales Rep can't say anything either. Delivery schedule is August - September, how are there no updates to manage expectations? Already seeing similar configs in the shop, which makes it even worse - they're building for the shop but not the custom orders? It would be awesome to get updates about when your car is scheduled to be built etc.

Probably shouldn't buy a Rivian - the service alone will also be a 3-6 month wait to fix something on your brand new 100k truck. If you can't wait less than 6 months to get the truck probably should look elsewhere, I know I wish I did.

Crazy, I never even heard of Rivian a month ago. Saw one on the road 2 weeks ago, went on their site and ordered one from the shop. My delivery is set up for 8/6. Not like swinging in to a dealership but not bad….

Just kidding. Ordered June 2022 and am finally getting delivery 8/6. It is a strange process buying a $100k+ vehicle and feeling left in the dark by sales, lol. Oh well, what do you do.

How was the communication from Rivian? Did you expect to wait for years or check every day for an update? I don't expect sympathy, just wondering why they suck so much at this part. You have a reservation, there must be a schedule/queue and production targets for every day, why not be transparent about it.

Huh, not being transparent? They gave you an expected delivery window. Also, from past experience once production got rolling, they generally beat those estimates. Not exactly sure what you're expecting from them

Well, I ordered December 2021. Took delivery today. It was worth the wait!

First EV. Thankfully, I learned a ton from owners on this forum while waiting.

you were told car would be ready aug/sept. What updates do you need? It’s a freaking 2-3 month wait. How do you keep your cool? By being an adult. This is absurd.

I custom ordered my first R1T in 2022, before they were making trucks, so yeah, I waited a while to get it. My second R1T I bought out of the shop and had it in 4 weeks. If you are custom ordering a R1T and they are saying 3-4 months that doesn't seem bad to me. Can you not find anything in the shop that works for you?

They’re new. Do you want them to invest in R&R, manufacturing, supply chain, etc. or do you want them to invest in their reservation system?

There are a few options which are close, but if I'm spending that kind of money, I want perfect, not close. I'm happy to wait it out to get "my" Rivian, I guess I was hoping for a more tech driven / transparent purchase & production process that gives some cool insight about what's going on, rather than the guesswork everywhere. I read in another thread that custom orders aren't even scheduled to be produced before this week, while some other Reps seem not to know about this.

Dealing with Rivian needs a lot of patience.
