The 270 mile range on my M3 is lucky to get 200 at 75mph. So I will be happy if the R2 gets 250. I do not take the R1 on road trips bc the battery takes too long to charge.
Also I had the center screen on my M3 go out. I am glad RIVN is keeping 2 screens.

I hope this is not the case. That is what I would expect from the performance trimotor. I would expect long range dual motor to be in the 50 to 52K price range.
Agreed. If they follow similar pricing for other similar cars - I'd expect dual to be ~50 and tri to be ~60.

I don't think there is room in there for more than 2 range options and I doubt they will do a Max pack like variant for the R2.
The R1S has 4 range options(ridiculous) & the R1T has room for even more.
They should keep it simple with the R2/3 platform 2 is enough.
There is no Max on the R1 line it is just a surgical band aid that you need to go to the hospital for.

I'd much rather have a battery that charges faster than a bigger battery that can go farther.
But doesn't the larger battery give you that option? Just stop and charge 10-60 or something like that, and take advantage of faster rates at lower SOC. Or is carrying around the extra weight the issue?

I'm guessing long range dual will start in the high 50's.
This would be a mistake by the company. If you’re truly trying to reach a more mass audience, you don’t go from $45k on the base single motor 270 mile RWD, to $59k for the dual motor 330 mile AWD. That should not be a $12-15k upgrade. You especially don’t want the vehicle price to tip over $60k after picking a paint color.

My hope would be that the R2 AWD dual motor, with a large pack, and choice of color would top out at no more than $55-57k.

We'll just have to wait and see... hard to wait though! I was hoping we'd at least know the color options.

I think in 2026, the dual-motor with color options and 330 miles of range wil fall between $55-60k. The tri-motor with 315 miles of range and color options will probably fall between $65-70k. Tri-motor likely coming first half of 2026. Dual-motor maybe second half of 2026 or first half of 2027. $45-50k single motor coming late 2027 or whenever the Georgia plant is done.

I’m lined up to get the Tri-motor :)

For reference, Model Y is currently +5k to get 50 miles of extra range, +3.5k more to get a second motor (and drop range back down), +2k for some colors.

Looking at XC40 recharge, Ioniq 5, etc, I think estimates in this thread are right on. Offering dual motor 300+ range at under 55k would destroy the competition, so probably not likely. All the competition have a big range loss for dual motor variants btw.

Welcome. I see you're new here. Lets see what happens when the cards fall. I think back in my early days, I predicted the 1st R1 price increase pretty early on... One of the reasons I put in my res when I did- price was too good to be true. I expect the $45k option will be mostly unobtainium... I don't see enough cost cutting on the platform the justify the $55k price especially with their current loss per unit sold and eventual march to whatever-it-takes-profitability.

Agreed. My prediction/hopefulness was based on the assumption that the $45k base price is legitimately obtainable for Rivian. However, based on history, it is highly unlikely that the base price will be under $50k on the single motor when we actually get to 2026 or 2027, whenever it actually arrives.

There are plenty of examples of companies over promising and under delivering. They Cybertruck being a glaring one. I remember the Blazer EV jumping $10k in price from the time they announced it to the time they actually rolled them out (unsuccessfully).

Still, I’m excited to see it when it arrives, and keeping my fingers crossed for awesome specs with reasonable pricing.

Not much extra weight for the MaxPack -- maybe 40 pounds.

The big difference is chemistry and configuration that makes the MaxPack more efficient pound-for-pound.

Best wishes!
