We will see if @godfodder0901 gets his truck today. One would hope that if this is/was going to happen, the delivery would have been arranged by now. Maybe he needs to complete his employment paperwork first? ?

If any other October deliveries actually happen today, you don't need to post anything more than a happy face or thumbs up.

I wouldn't count on it. Hopefully November we see summer forum members take delivery.

I am not counting on it. I just hope that his Guide had the courtesy of letting him know that they were going to miss their October commitment.

Nobody should be surprised by this. I don't expect to see a forum member get a delivery until Jan, at the earliest. I think their rate of 2 per day last month is probably still pretty close to the rate for Oct/Nov. Maybe their next phase will be 4-6 per day. I hope they ramp faster than that but don't really expect it.

Once they start producing any significant numbers (more than a truckload per day), Rivian's next battle will be delivery logistics. I think a month or two of that learning curve is realistic and acceptable.

InB4 someone claims the IPO "quiet period" justifies a lack of guide communication with reservation holders who have previously been given expected delivery timeframes.

I am of the mind If there was no imminent IPO Rivian might have been more upfront. It seems the priority is the IPO.

What does that mean for the reservation holders? I do not have that answer. Probably more poor/vague communication and portraying any small progress as meaningful movement toward realistic volume via social media.

They look to have a good vehicle and I am sure most of the people that work at Rivian are fine folks. I do wonder if they are under pressure by Amazon (maybe Ford) in regards to the IPO.

Regardless, I suspect they are still working out issues (latches on gear tunnel doors, automatic bed cover and software). I would also guess they are dealing with learning production and the industry wide supply chain issues.

The optics for alot of us on the forum is terrible. If Rivian was a restaurant this would be akin to them constantly coming back to the table time after time swearing the food will be right out. They would be better served just saying it will be out when it's out and we hope it's sooner than later. Or just say we have issues and if you expect your LE vehicle in 6 months (or whatever time frame) you may be disappointed.

That is the problem I have with the way they are handling this. Any one who has been following them has probably figured they are not nearly as close as they seem to imply.

The irony of all my speculation is it will not matter. The stock will take off, at least in the beginning and the truck will probably be a great product. It's just a shame the way it has been handled.

Like it or not, they set the expectations and the onerous is on them to take the high road and keep us appraised if they are on track.

In case I am wrong, I have my knife, fork and plate ready to eat that crow.

That's a VERY SILENT no on both counts unfortunately. I speak with my guide every week and, even after I flat out said they wouldn't meet the timeframe they set, he still wouldn't confirm it. He mentioned that he wouldn't even know when my truck would be ready until it was already built and ready to finish the final paperwork. Seems like I don't really even get a chance to finalize my build?

The reality is… they have never done this before. They are brand new, and for all we know… tney might be standing in the plant and saying… OH Shine. Now what do we do?

It's one thing to miss the deadline. But I think it's completely unacceptable to set a delivery date, and then never update the customer that they're not going to make that date, while the customer is anxiously awaiting the whole month. Terrible.

What is even the point of having a guide, if this isn't something they can communicate?
