Adventure originally included the power tonneau. However, the package has been modified such that the tonneau is now a separate option, and you can choose none, manual, or powered.

Thought so. Thank you for the clarification.

Do we know of any units that have been built with the manual cover? I'd love to see how it works before deciding which to get.

None. Only Launch Edition vehicles have been delivered, thus far. Launch Edition includes the powered tonneau, as standard equipment.

Interesting explanation from the configuration page regarding the $800 manual tonneau cover:

Manual Tonneau Cover
Our manual cover consists of four interlocking panels that slide in the channel of the truck bed. It comes with a bag for easy storage that fits inside the Gear Tunnel.

To me that sounds like a winner vs. electrically driven system... and you save $700.

Sounds like a smaller version of my old Avalanche system as far as storage goes. I wonder how having them slide in the channel affect convenience vs the lift-out Chevy system. In particular, can you slide out just the panel or two closest to the tailgate and have the others stay in place? All those years with the Avalanche I frequently took out only the tailgate panel so something tall, say a lawnmower, could be loaded without having to take off the other panels.

Can't wait to actually see the manual version. It could be my choice as well.

^ I'm hoping for the same sort of system where you can leave some panels in place and only remove the ones necessary for cargo clearance for something like a dresser or some other tall item.

I've read from other posts that only the tailgate adjacent panel locks into place.

Someone could come up with an insert solution where bars are inserted into the rails to hold back the other panels.

So it wouldn't be impossible.

Sounds like it could be fixed, like most things, with ratchet straps and/or duct tape.

FYI CS told me that if you get the manual tonneau the compartment for the automatic cover is removed. Very curious what that looks like. Can't see how that can be easily done with how integrated it looks but hope it's true.

Yeah would that increase bed size?

With this discussion about the tonneau covers, I now have a question. My ordered configuration is the Explore Version. This originally was specified with the manual tonneau cover. In the new configuration, I am now wondering if the manual tonneau will still come with my Explore R1T.
