I have a 56XX VIN and my slats are also 6 inches with a total of 9. If they reduced the number of slats by (1) the new width would be approx 6.75, I don't know if the space that it is stored in could handle anything wider.

I'll post them again - I added them earlier but sometimes the messages move around in order I've noticed. Now, are they actually any wider than others' slats? No idea :) That's what I was told but didn't have a different truck to compare with. For reference, my VIN is mid 11k

My Vin is in the 5719. So far my cover works, but sounds like there's a ton of friction. I gently help it in and out for now. If it breaks, I'm looking forward to working on my own "redesign" until they replace it with whatever they see fit that works. After watching the Munroe video, I have some ideas how to make it a little more robust and reduce the friction. If the time comes, you can bet your arse I'll document the whole thing and share it here if it works. I'm not a mechanical engineer by trade, but I have a machining background and some experience with things like this.

My VIN is 2911 - only have about 2k miles and haven't had much occasion to use the tonneau except when showing people. I do still baby it a little and help it along when opening / closing but thus far no issues.

My truck is in for service. They indicated they have a temporary fix available for the existing tonneau covers but the long term redesign is not yet available and won't be for several months.

I also asked about the passive key fob as I've read others have been able to get theirs reprogrammed. Same thing, they said the option is not yet available to release to customers. He indicated possibly some employee cars were getting it to test out. As of now, enabling passive features kills the battery too quickly and they're still working on a fix.

I haven't ripped mine apart, but I may have one of the "redesign" or a modified unit in testing.

I had the opportunity to play/drive with multiple R1Ts prior to taking delivery and every cover sounded about the same. Loud and clunky. When I took delivery of my truck I immediately noticed how much quieter mine was. Enough so that I asked my delivery person if they had redesigned it - they replied no. The sliding sound is still there but instead of a sharp clunk its a softer and more muted thud

I'm coming up on 4,000 miles now, the cover gets utilized quite a bit. I met with someone else in the same VIN range and theirs broke - and they used it far less often. I've used mine with things pushed up against it on the back wall, it's been used to squash things up against the tailgate. I've had cardboard boxes putting upward pressure. It's been covered in dust, leaves - as I drive on gravel roads on a regular basis. I've also put stuff on top of it on several occasions - aluminum step ladder, pull along/winch, aluminum load ramps, various bags, etc. I wouldn't say I'm abusing it, but I'm certainly not taking excessive care of it - no dry lube, realignments, etc.

I don't have any explanation aside from maybe mine is different, but it's been surprisingly durable and perhaps offers hope.

Mine seems ok but I barely use it out of caution. I dry lubed it and don’t operate it when it’s dirty.

Still only opened/closed mine about a dozen times but so far no issues. Hoping it holds up until any redesign is ready, and hoping (assuming?) it will be a recall service that won't cost me to get it updated.

Just curious since I have seen limited info on reason for suspension of power Tonneau. What was the driving cause they suspended the power tonneau. What is the goal of the redesign? I am in the December/January delivery window and wonder what I will get with my R1T. My configuration still has power listed. But I haven’t changed since I didn’t want my dates to get screwed up. We shall see I guess.

Issues with the motors pulling and pushing the slats causing them to jam. I believe the goal of the redesign is to come up with something that doesn't cause those jamming issues.

I'm guessing a secondary goal is to make something that doesn't sound awful opening and closing, making you think it's on the verge of breaking any moment :)
