Turn off vehicle while passengers are in it

I am wondering how to turn off the vehicle, AC and screens, if I have passengers in it. Just want to have windows rolled down, maybe rear hatch open but conserve energy because I don’t need the air conditioning or screens turned on.

Is it camp mode with “stay off” for manage energy?

You might be overthinking it. Just turn off the HVAC and roll down the windows. Or are you concerned with passengers changing all your settings for fun?

Better yet, leave them with the HVAC on and some entertainment options. Creature comforts.

Was just thinking screen on is wasting energy. Everything off would conserve. This is when I’m down to less than say, 15% battery.

I get that. Range anxiety is real. Somebody will correct me… doesn’t the vehicle automatically go to sleep if no key is present?

Screen usage (and most times climate) are really negligible to power usage.

Doesn’t work if I am sitting in the rear with the trunk hatch open even with doors locked. The ac and screen stays on. Figured it out, have to turn on camp mode and “turn off” mode.

Mine has shut down after some length of time with windows down, gear tunnel open. I just turn off the AC.

Someday Rivian will invent a new feature that allows the owner to select when they want the car on or off ... possibly implemented via some sort of "switch" or "button" that controls the power ... probably not possible with today's technology, but maybe they can implement it for R2.

I think a lot of people don't realize just how truly massive the batteries in an ev are. The average American home consumes around 30kwh/day. Even with the standard battery that's enough to power an entire house for 3 full days.

The amount of power the screens use is really negligible relative to a battery that size.

If we really wanna get into the weeds, a very high end gaming PC running at full 100% processor utilization will consume 1kw max (this is WAYYYYY more than what the in vehicle computer would consume, especially if you're not doing anything with it). At 1kw, assuming you have the gen 2 92 kwh standard battery, you'd get almost 14 hours of runtime with 15% battery.

TL;DR - don't sweat the screen usage, that consumes almost nothing relative to the size of the battery
