'Shonuff. I upgraded just a bit ago. I get why, but it's a shame we can't do custom wheel visuals (even if it just slapped a 2D wheel onto the side of the model).
Anyone's app ever update to the new wheel?
You're oversimplifying. Think about how many wheels are possible and how many 3D models (and labor hours) that would take. And think about the size of the asset database they would have to create, manage and code into the UI. Software bloat. Why on earth would any OEM make that kind of commitment on wheels they don't sell? It's a good way to lose money through unnecessary expense. No for-profit business would do it.

You're over complicating. They don't need to create wheels. They build a flat cylinder (to represent the wheel/tire) then let you provide a picture of the wheel (can have a round window that you center/size image to fit), then it generates a cell shaded version and applies that flat image onto the cylinder. Yes, could it be better. But, I think people would be happy to have some customization.
Either way, I choose the closest to my wheels that happen to be my favorite stock Rivian wheels...22" range wheels (though the Cali Dunes would look great as 22s!)

Nope which is weird tbh. The about section in the truck is accurate, but the app shows the original/non-updated data

If you need to specify a different size , you need to specify an OEM equivalent.

Example: those of us running 275/60R20 should choose the 2025 Goodyear All Seasons, then swap to aftermarket tires and select your tire choice (you can spec all-terrain, snow, all-season, etc).
@R1Thor , where did you find those 2025 Goodyear All Seasons in the change tire menu?

It's pretty much the first option:

Sorry, I didn't have a photo that I took myself, so I borrowed the image from Jose's RivianTrackr Video

That 20" all season has the 275/60R20 All-Seasons on it.
Select that and then the next screen allows you to select your tire (and it'll confirm at the top what profile spec you've selected):

(Note again, this is not my screenshot--I borrowed from Jose, and I hope he's cool with it; so in this case, he isn't in the same menu you will be, but your workflow is the same insofar as you can choose aftermarket tires and select the type):

As anyone else is going through this process, it may be helpful to get some screenshots for the forums :)

A cheapskate just got his notice.
Fellow cheapskate here (had C+ until this month, decided to take a month off to try the unlimited 5G hotspot included in my new phone plan) & received the update last night as well.

I've always taken a "wait & see" approach to updates though so don't plan to install until sometime next week (have a planned road trip this weekend and don't want any surprises).

Skipped previous OTA altogether (didn't like what I read about the new throttle mapping in reverse) so hopefully that doesn't present any issues when I do inevitably take this update.

FYI I noticed a bug with this update - when the back seat screen is locked and simply displays the time, the time does not update in real time. My son pointed this out to me yesterday when the clock wasn't changing even thought it was on the main screen in the front. I tried a soft reset, not fixed. 2023 R1T

They are Goodyear AT tires that come in the 2025 All Season wheels as well as every 20” all terrain wheel.

On my Gen1 I noticed that this update brings back the radiator grill shutters opening (and creaking) on wake. Is anyone else seeing this behavior again?

... I was today years old when I learned there were grill shutters.

This is not about whether or not Rivian is legally responsible. Yes, I can read, and I fully understood the risks of purchasing from a new manufacturer.

This is about trust. I am attempting to help others realize that you cannot trust marketing materials, promotional/hype videos, or statements directly out of the mouth of the CEO.
NOTHING I have said is untrue. I'm sorry you have a bowl full of sour grapes, but shit happens. Rivian didn't intentionally mislead you; they tried making the promised features with the hardware present in Gen 1. It didn't work; the camera quality and onboard processors weren't good enough.

Trying and failing is different than intentionally deceiving buyers. You seem to forget how dire the component shortages were during the start of R1 production. For a startup company with absolutely no clout with suppliers, they got the bargain bin shit that was leftover from all the other manufacturers. Rivian still tried to make it work, but they couldn't.

You would have a case to complain if the Gen 2 didn't contain significantly different hardware and Rivian restricted Gen 1 to extort money. That's not what's happening here.

I saved over 20k dollars on my Gen 1 that I had to pay on my Gen 2. So, the early adopters got a one-time offer unavailable to new purchasers. Be grateful for what you have, and if you want the autonomy, Rivian has incentives on trade-ins for a Gen 2. That's what I did.
Tesla had to go thru MANY hardware updates and generations of their cars to get to where there AP/FSD is today. Many are left behind. I think people are foolish to think the previous Tesla hardware can be made to work on the current stuff. They pretend like you can upgrade ... but they mean you can get a new car mostly and push it off. HW4 (AI4) is not even close to being compatible with HW3.

Yeah, and they can make a creaking noise which sounds creepy enough to make its way to a future Halloween theme.

This creaking used to be a common issue since the shutters moved every time the vehicle woke up. A while ago an update stopped this behavior by only allowing the shutters to move at times the noise would be less apparent.

It sounds like it’s back.

Great for Halloween though.

I did not notice the grill opening but on this trip I have heard the fans go into overdrive more frequently when fast charging.

I still haven't received the update.
I'm wondering if this is a Canada thing, or there just something wrong with either my R1S or my iPhone app.

Maybe a new thread but:
If you’re prepared to pay for both Performance, & unlocking extra battery range, is there a possibility to pay for and have installed build options after delivery?
Like the air compressor, or blackout?
