People specifically asked for pictures of the flatness new cover and the underside of the old and new slats to see if there were differences. If you have any pictures you can provide please do and leave the negative comments in the Tesla forums.

Rivian just called me out of the blue, scheduled me to have my fully operational tonneau upgraded on the 21st. Sweet!

That is very disappointing IMO. It just as loud and stuttery as the original. What happened to the "improved" powered tonneau RJ showed off on instagram back in may that was quiet and smooth?

I'll be honest, if this is what folks with original, broken tonneaus get but folks with new R1Ts delivered with powered tonneau in 2024 get something different (like the one shown in RJ's video) that is going to be messed up.

It was a video recorded in a loud area of the plant. I suspect whatever they used to record it is designed to amplify voices instead of noise. You wanna hear some noise, watch the video I have in my sig.

Gee, wish I had one. Installed the manual cover after waiting 8 months.

I've had my truck since August of 2022, put in a ticket for tonneau cover the day it was delivered and still waiting for the call to get it replaced. It still works but I hardly open/close it as I expect it will give out at any time. Looking forward to the new design that I can use.

Im in the same boat - mine hasn't worked since I received the vehicle. Not having a tonneau makes my bed unusable.

Separately, I learned the reason mine is broken is not because of the tonneau itself, but rather a damaged track. because fo the track, the slats will not slide on the passenger side resulting in the whole apparatus getting out of whack and breaking.

I will be ecstatic when I finally get one ...

Just got mine back this evening. It’s been a year since mine last worked, so memory isn’t perfect, but it looks and sounds almost exactly the same. This doesn’t bother me at all, as long as the reliability has greatly increased

id be worried. when RJ and team were showing it off they said it was much smoother and quieter. so which is it? and why are the new ones being installed not like they said?
